Birth of Legends

Fade looked down at her three newborns with a smile on her face as Ash, her cold-blooded mate, entered the narrow den, glaring emotionlessly between her and the little ones.

Silence awkwardly fell between the two before Fade cleared her throat and began. She licked one of the newborns, a male with dark, dark, almost burgundy, fur and dark yellow eyes. Black swirls just barely etched into the pelt. "This one is the oldest, a boy." Fade explained cheerily. "Red, that'll be his name." Ash declared, somehow already knowing this kit wouldn't be the strongest of the litter.

"And the second-born?" Ash inquired impatiently. Fade nudged her head lightly to a bright orange kit with black lining his fur gently, almost as if it weren't there. "Another boy," Fade said, "He's the second of the litter."

Ash went quiet for a minute, staring at the boy before giving a small smirk. "He'll be called Morion, a strong name for a strong male." He proudly announced. Fade knew the name meant "Soldier," it sent chills through her body, but she ignored it for now. She noticed her boys look a lot more like their father, a perfect mix actually.

Fade pointed to the last of the kits, a female who looked almost exactly like her. This kit had creamy light tan fur, golden paws, and bright green eyes. "She's a girl." Fade said proudly, glad she was able to have a daughter. But Ash couldn't have been more disgusted. "How can you be happy with that little thing? It's a runt, weak. Obviously, I won't include her in my practice." Ash growled just a tiny bit.

Before Fade could get a word out, Ash had already scooped up Morion and Red, taking them away. Fade sighed, looking down at her daughter, who squirmed peacefully near her mother's belly. "I'll call you Rabbit, because you are just as pure and innocent as one." She chuckled, nuzzling the little girl.
