Grace's POV:
Jason showed up less and less, sometimes not coming home at all; if he did, he was escorted by cops.
Marcus, Olivia and I were in the middle of an intense UNO game when the doorbell rang and a sharp voice rang out. "it's police!"
we all exchanged irritated looks as Marcus got up to greet the officers, Liv and I following. sure enough, a sheriff, a deputy and Jason in handcuffs were all at our doorstep.
lovely.
One of the officers tipped their hat to us and nodded at Jason. "I apologize for the interference. He did it again, he's no longer allowed to go into the local bar."
Jason scoffed. "What was one drink gonna do, huh?"
"Shut it!" the second officer barked, releasing his hands from the handcuffs.
Jason rubbed his wrists while glaring at the officer. "Why don't you go suck-"
"THANK you officers, I'm sorry for your trouble. it won't happen again." Marcus glared at Jason as he stepped inside.
Jason didn't acknowledge or didn't care. possibly both. he loped over to the kitchen, grabbing a soda.
"Jason, do you have any deal what you've done?! you put a 15 year old girl in the damn hospital!" Marcus followed him, fuming.
"SO WHAT?! WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO, MARCUS?! LIFE ISN'T SOME GODDAMN FAIRY TALE! NOTHING IS GOING TO BE SOME HAPPY GO LUCKY BULLSHIT!" Jason threw his hands up, hysterically.
The two were really butting heads. I don't want this to go on.
I inserted myself between the two pissed off men. "Hey, everyone calm down. "
Marcus scowled at Jason. "Jason, you REALLY gotta stop being a d***."
"he always is, Mark. ya can't change that!" Liv muttered.
Jason growled and balled his fist. "Why don't you both shut the hell up."
I glared at both of them, clearly seeing the tension. "Okay, let's just take some deep breaths and calm down. I'm sure whatever Jason did was accidental. Marcus, please forget it. Okay? Should you really hurt your friendships by arguing?"
The two men glared at each other.
Marcus huffed and extended his hand, glaring at Jason.
I folded my arms and stared at Jason; Liv popping up beside me, mimicking my movements.
He rolled his eyes and left the room.
Marcus huffed out an exasperated sigh and rested his head in his hands.
I worriedly glanced at Liv, who shrugged hopelessly.
"What am I gonna do? He's not getting better." he whispered.
I was silent in thought, Liv rubbed my shoulder while clasping Marcus' hand. Therapy didn't work, distractions, nothing.
"I'm not sure anymore. Wait it out, I guess?" Liv suggested, popping some stale chips in her mouth.
Marcus stared up at us, his eyes were full of worry, concern and fear. "He's going to get in big trouble. I don't know what happened to my old friend, but that's not him."
I rubbed his shoulder. "I don't know anymore..."
