Lore AU

In this AU Wendy is an orphan girl who lost her parents as a baby and was brought up by her loving adopted mother Grandeeney. But at age twelve, Grandeeney passed away and she was going to be placed in foster care and separated from her older brother Gray. Luckily he assumed guardianship of Wendy and took her with him to a small town called Magnolia in North Channel. At first glance, Magnolia just seems like a regular small town with regular people but it isn't long before the inquisitive girl discovers that this town hides a secret. A large number of it's residents are secretly mythical creatures from Irish, Scottish, and Welsh lore who have been separated or driven from their original homes, now hunted by the cruel circus master Brain Zero.

Wendy quickly befriends these creatures and goes out of her way to protect them from Brain, all while making sure Gray doesn't find out.

Characters

Wendy - A kind, spirited, yet shy and lonely girl who since the death of her parents and later her foster mother Grandeeney, has felt rejected and unable to connect with anyone except her brother Gray. She's always been fascinated with stories of myth and lore which makes her a bid of an oddball to her peers but she fits right in the town of Magnolia. And while not very brave, she is courageous and is willing to face anything to protect her new friends and family.

Erza - An eccentric, wise, kind, and free-spirited Nicnevin (Scottish Witch) who owns the local pub and inn Fairy Tail, along with her grandfather Makarov who raised her and her adopted sister. She is the most responsible and the most careful of all the creatures in Magnolia, only using magic in dire emergencies, and she is very fearful about anyone learning her secret or anyone else's due to having her mother be taken away when she was exposed.  When Wendy and Gray move into her inn and she serves as Wendy's guide to the supernatural that surrounds Magnolia, and as an older sister figure to her and Gray, giving valuable advice and looking out for them. She's also quite a looker and knows how to use her charms for business.

Gray - Wendy's responsible, caring, protective, yet socially awkward brother who works as a mariner. Despite only being eighteen, Gray is a hard worker and devoted guardian to Wendy but this unfortunately leaves him very little friends and very little time for his own wants. Traumatized by the death of his biological parents, he is terrified of losing Wendy who is the only family he has left and the loss of their parents also caused him to have a very cynical out look on life. He doesn't believe in lore or mythology and knows nothing of Magnolia's secret. Yet he finds himself unknowingly becoming close friends with legendary creatures and even falling in love with one.

Natsu - A destructive, temperamental, but optimistic and loyal Beithir (Scottish Dragon) who works in the local coal mine. He is the first creature Wendy befriends and she becomes one of the very few residents of Magnolia who is not scared or disgusted by him. Beithirs by nature are supposed to destroy and steal, motivated by greed and a lust for violence, and they're also lifelong enemies with any type of fae and humans. But Natsu chose to act against the nature and try to be more friendly which resulted in his kind rejecting him and leaving him alone. He is prone to mischief and will occasionally get the urge to "borrow things without asking" but in the end he has a good heart and only wants to have friends. He eventually becomes Gray's best friend, is like a second brother to Wendy, and becomes enamored with a fae.

Lucy - A dazzling, feisty, defiant, sweet Aos Sí (Irish Fairy). A creature of fae, a royal princess who ran away from home after father attempted to force her into an arranged marriage. She runs into Natsu as she's fleeing from the guards and he hides her in Magnolia. Despite running away, Lucy does take her role as heir to the throne seriously and she intends to return home to take her place as queen but not until she can prove to her father that she doesn't need a husband in order to rule or take care of herself. Natsu is smitten with her at first glance but she remains oblivious, at first.

Juvia - A beautiful, tender-hearted, curious, but slightly stubborn Morforwyn (Welsh Mermaid). As a baby, she washed ashore from the sea and was found by a young Erza and Makarov who adopted her. Though she can pass for a human when dry and was raised in the human world, she can't resist the lure of the ocean from where she was born, but she feels at home in both worlds. She sees beauty everywhere, expresses her emotions without self-conscience, and teaches humans to open their eyes to the simple wonders they've become blind to. She officially comes into Wendy's life when she saves Gray from drowning in a storm and falls in love with him. At first she does come off as odd to him, but her childlike innocence and faith in the heart allows her to connect with him and Wendy.

Jellal - An extremely powerful, highly intelligent, yet down-to-earth and reasonable Dewin (Welsh Warlock). He comes to Magnolia on orders to capture the one responsible for the recent disappearances of creatures and attacks on humanity. He suspects a beither at first, due to beithirs being naturally violent and devious, so Erza decides to keep off Natsu's trail by distracting him with both her magic and her womanly charms. Unfortunately while he does end up seduced by Erza, she soon becomes seduced by him.
