Travis hopped out of his dad's beaten up, worn red truck around a street away from school. He began to walk, dragging his feet a little as he did and staring at the ground. Truth is he didn't want to be there. He didn't want to be anywhere that day. He just wanted to be gone, not dead. Gone.

"Hey!! Travis" came a voice behind him. He quickly turned around to see a small boy with blue hair rushing towards him. He stuck out his foot in an attempt to trip him but he failed as sal stopped just before his foot.

"What." Travis's voice was sharp. He exhaled sharply too. Everything about him seemed annoyed and sal could tell.

"Y'know how you werent in yesterday-"

"Yeah."

"Wellll we have a group project and we kinda
got paired up"

"Why"

"Larry wasn't in and I'm not allowed to work with ash this time. Of course todd went with Neil as well so its you and me!"

"Ok how about this." He looked at sal with a stern expression, trying to mimic his father's due to how scary it could be "you do the project and i don't punch you, deal?"

"Hmmmm no- sorry.. that wont work" the shorter boy responded, his eyes squinted as if he was smiling

"Ugh" he sighed, he knew it was inescapable "how are we even gonna work on it?"

"We have my house, we have your house"

"Your house, Wednesday. Good riddance" travis shooed sal away with his hand

Sal nodded and walked across the road to leave travis alone. Travis put his hands in his pockets and continued walking, eventually getting onto campus and walking into the school. He would push past anyone in his way and knocked over one kid. He got into the building and immediately headed for the bathrooms.

He walked into one of the stalls and slammed the door behind him before sitting on the toilet seat. He hadn't had the best day, or night for that matter. Everything hurt like hell, he even had to wear long pants (which he didn't usually do) and they were uncomfortable. His mom was meant to be home the night before, she was meant to be discharged from hospital. But he knew she'd only gotten into a worse mental state. He didn't wanna think about it. He pulled a notebook and pen from his pocket and began to write his feelings, his handwriting rushed and scribbles all over the page. A tear drop fell onto the paper and soaked through it, then another, then another. He put the notebook in his pocket and the pen along with it. He tucked his knees to his chest and let himself cry.

The bell rung for first lesson and he got up and wiped his eyes, slammed the door open and went out to the sinks, he washed his face to get rid of any tear-stains and headed to class, stopping at his locker on the way to grab what he needed.

When he got to class he sat down, he looked at the person on the desk next to him. Sal fucking fisher was looking back at him with smiling eyes, he gave him a small wave before focusing on the front of the class (where the teacher was now speaking)
Travis also shifted his focus to the teacher's speaking, occasionally he would find himself looking at sal from his peripheral vision but he would try his best to pay attention to the teacher and trying to listen to what he was saying.

After a while of the teacher talking, they were assigned work. Group work, groups of two.

"So- what exactly are we doing?" Said the boy next to him with a questioning tone, looking at the blonde and cocking his head slightly to the side

"You think i fucking know? Work it out yourself" replied travis who looked at sal, his brows knitted together angrily.

Sal looked over to the person next to him who told him what exactly they were doing, sal looked back at Travis "make notes on the sheet and highlight important stuff, then we go through the information we've gathered and pool it all together and write a couple paragraphs about what we've discovered."

"Sounds like bullshit but whatever-" Travis muttered as he grabbed his pen and highlighter and went through the work-sheet highlighting and noting down things.

Sal did the same, he would look at travis's work and notice he was hesitating and struggling but he assumed that travis wouldn't want help so he just continued with his, he got through it quite quickly and put his head down on the desk, as he was about to sleep he felt a warm hand on his shoulder and looked up.

"Ive finished the stupid fucking work" travis looked at sal and then back at his work. Sal sat up straighter and started to talk to Travis about the work. Travis was very quiet most of the time. Sal thought something may be off.
"Is everything alright travis?" He asked as he looked at the taller boy

"I'm fine" travis replied sharply, keeping his focus on the work

"Alrighttt-" sal wasn't sure that he believed him, but he knew travis wouldn't tell him anything so he just focused on working

After a long half an hour, the bell rung. Sal watched Travis gather his stuff and leave without being dismissed. Sal waited to be dismissed and left when he was. He ran out to his friends, noticing an absence in ashley.

"Where's ash?" He asked, the question mostly directed towards larry

Todd replied "i think she had to stay home today. Not sure."

Sal nodded "ohh alright. I hope she's ok"

Larry butted into the conversation "imma go get food, anyone wanna come with?"

"Yeah sure, i'll come. Cant get anything though" sal tapped his mask to gesture that he couldn't eat. Larry nodded and walked to the lunch line whilst sal followed after. Larry got some pizza and sat down, sal sat with him. They were soon accompanied by chug, maple and Todd. They all ended up talking for a while until the bell rang and they all went off to their classes.

The rest of the school day went by fast for sal, for travis it went slow, slower than ever. But he didn't want to go "home"... he didn't want to be anywhere.

Travis got into his dad's car. He was waiting for him just outside school as he often did. Sal watched him get in and was going to say goodbye, but they were already leaving by the time he got out of the gate. Larry rushed out the gate to sal and they walked home together, talking all the way about music and art. They parted ways as the elevator stopped at the 4th floor and sal got off, Larry went back down. Sal walked into his place and went into his room.

*one new message from (insert number ig) illuminated on Travis's phone screen. He was in his room getting changed into pyjamas. He looked at the notification

"Hi, this is Sally face.  I think this is Travis, if not then sorry to bother you"

"How did you get my number, freak?" Travis typed out quickly.

"School phone book. Anyways, how are you?"

"Why do you care"

"Im just trying to be friendly chill"

Travis shut off his phone and left it on his bedside table.
