Chapter 3

(By:Porshalovebby)

I walked away from the battered buildings, a blur behind me. I shook my head, trying to clear the image of the girl on the steps. Everytime I tried too her eyes appeared in the back of my head.

The tall, beatdown cafe's shadow loomed above me, as I walked in. I slowly made my way towards to the table in the far back corner. I plopped into the seat making a slight sound. A tall woman in her early twenties made her way towards me. She brushed her long, red curls over her shoulder, trying to sway her hips in her short waitress outfit.

"Hi, how may I help you?" She purred, leaning down closer than nessacary.

"A water and a double cheeseburger," I said, barely looking at her.

I handed her the menu and watched her eyes fill with determination as she turned on her heel, making her way to the kitchen. I let out a sigh and rested my head into my crossed arms. I heard the small noise of the glass being set down on the table. I looked up and nodded at her.

"So, stranger, what's your name?" She asked sudectivly.

"Keegan" I replied in montone.

She gave me a quick glare at my lack of showing interest. She returned her face to the flirty smile it was before and pranced her way to sit across from me.

"Well I'm Mandy." I heard the ding of the door's bell, and looked up to see the girl whose eyes pierced into my soul, minutes ago.

She went over and sat close to the door, never looking beyond her feet.

"Since we are playing the name game, whose that," I asked pointing the girl from the steps. Mandy snorted.

"You'll have know interest in her, I can give you a lot more fun," She offered, wiggling her eyebrows.

"Thanks, but no thanks," I told her as I got up.

I threw a few dollar bills on the table for the water and tip. As I started to head to the door, I felt a hand on my shoulder. As an instinct I cringed away and turned around as quickly as I could. I ended up staring at a bustboy.

"Her names Ashley," He said shrugging and walked off before I could ask anything else. I slowly turned my head to stare at this Ashley. She looked up and once our eyes met she quickly looked down.

This pale girl, theres something different about her. Something familar too. I took one more glance at her as I left the cafe.

What is it about her that I can't just forget? I shook my head, I'll just have to make myself forget.

"Keegan!" I whipped around to see where my name was being called from. I cursed in my head when I saw some guys in a gang coming towards me.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" The leader asked.

He towered over me a good 5 inches. I recongingsed him from the apartments, his name was Sam.

"What do you guys want?" I questioned them, trying not to show my annoyance.

"You see, we need to borrow some money," He explained. I snorted.

"What money?" I said sacrasticly

"We know you ain't broke."

"I barely have enough as it is," I told them honestly.

"You see we don't care about what you have enough of. So give it to us, or we'll make you," Sam started coming closer.

I paniced, I really didn't have much. I decided to walk away.

"Bad choice Keegan." They grabbed me and threw me to the ground.

I curled up into a ball, but that didn't help me from the kicking and puching they were doing.

"Dude, get his wallet." A voice said somewhere around me.

My vision blurred as I was pushed around, and my head hit the contrete and all I saw was blackness.
