"Be happy. . . .Not because everything is good but because you can see the good in everything." -Unknown
C H A P T E R 2 - Daniel
I heard the sound of metal clanking and the slamming of the door, the sound of silence crowded the air and for once I felt my heart twist with happiness, my father had finally left for work.
I opened my eyes to the smell of eggs, I twitched raising a eyebrow, since when did I have a good nose?
I stretched my legs yawning lowly as the brightness from the sun taunted against my cheekbones I made my way off the bed and jumped into the shower. I enjoyed the silence in my house with grace.
When I pulled my baggage on to the bottom of the stairs I huffed as I smelt the faint smell, I made my way to the kitchen taking advantage my dad wasn't here. Inside I spotted a plate with a reasonable amount of eggs and two slices of buttered toast, my eyes widened at the sight in front of me.
H-He made me food!?
I was too shock staring at the food only sensing the sound of the ringing buzzing of the nearest walls, I groaned as I picked the phone up biting the inside of my mouth, I glanced back at the plate before taking the time to answer the phone.
"Mackenzie residences, how m-" I was cut off by the rumble of a deep voice, "Alana." The sound made a smile itch on to my lips and I held the squeal in at the voice, "Daniel." I whispered, I wanted to cry but even I had decency to hold back.
"Alana, it is you." I could hear the sound of happiness in his voice, my heart thumped as I smiled at his voice, I was beyond happy, finally after being away for all these years we could be together yet again.
"Daniel." I couldn't help the sob that escaped my lips, the line was silent for a moment before I heard his tone become more softer, "oh Alana don't cry." He pleaded lightly, but the fact was how couldn't I cry after all these years being alone not being able to make another friend.
"I-I'm not crying." I chocked on my words hoping he wouldn't recognize, he let out a deep chuckle making me realize how much he has change. "Aren't you a big girl now?" He sounded amused, I laughed at his words, like always he was moody.
"Kinda." I tried to brush the raging tears of joy from my eyes though they calmed down they hadn't completely stopped.
"Kinda?" He repeated my words with a dark chuckle.
"How have you been?" He asked me gently, I sniffed loudly, "fine." I responded, he never knew what my dad had done to me in fact he had respected my dad greatly and I would never want to ruin that for him.
"What about you?" I leaned against the chair crossing my arm over my chest, smiling into the phone. "Pretty good. Ya know after coming back I still see that I still have my charm with the ladies." I laughed lowly at his tone, he was always a player I guess his habits hadn't changed.
"Charm, you say? Does that include you picking your nose." I teased him, I hadn't noticed that I began to play with the tips of my hair that had been freshly washed with a shampoo I had saved up for.
The scent of strawberries tingled my nose, "hey. I was only ten." I rolled me eyes at his tone, it quickly turned into being playful.
"Right." I rolled my tongue with the word. The sound of the fridge buzzed my ears, I narrowed my eyebrows unsure of these sudden uncalled actions, I easily brushed it off and continued my conversation with my best friend.
