Nightmare's Castle.
Killer sat beside his bed, watching the small child carefully. The child lay peacefully in a makeshift bed, which was pillows used as a barricade to stop it from rolling off the edge. His eyes only shone with pure curiosity and awe at the small infant. He wasn't used to children, he always assumed he would hate them so he avoided them at all costs. He hadn't yet ran into Nightmare, so he's yet to be caught with a child.
The child stirred in it's sleep, shaking Killer out of his thoughts. He watched with hesitance and curiosity as the baby slowly opened it's eyes. Pretty [e/c] eyes shone in the little amount of light that shone through Killer's window. They stared up at Killer with curiosity. Killer wasn't sure what to do, he was starting to regret his choices of picking up this child. He carefully picked the child up into his arms, making sure not to hurt it in any way.
He stared into the glistening [e/c] eyes of the small infant and couldn't help the joy he felt just from holding such a sweet creature.
After a few seconds, he realised he had no idea what the name of this child was, or whether it had a name at all. He didn't want to leave it nameless, but he didn't want to confuse it and start using a name completely different to it's original name. He decided to look on the clothes and blankets to see if there's any sign of a name. He found a tag on the back of the child's shirt, which read '[y/n]'. Killer could only assume that was it's name. Reading on it also said 'born: 2nd November.
Age: 11 months old.
Gender:female
(sorry abt this, it just fits the story but I'll be using she/they/it pronouns for them)The rest of the writing had faded and torn, possibly from the destruction caused. "Well [y/n], guess I gotta take care of you now." he said, realising the job he'd been landed with. He didn't even know where he'd get baby stuff from.
Just then there was a knock at the door. Out of panic he placed the child back in it's makeshift bed and placed a blanket over it making sure not to cover it's face. He then shouted "Come in!" to whoever was waiting outside.
The door opened to reveal Nightmare. Of course he was here, Nightmare knows everything. He stood at the doorway, leaning on the doorway.
"What took you so long to get back after the mission." He asked in a calm tone. Killer stared with a blank expression, "I got held back, but I made it right?" He said, in an attempt to save his skin- or er- bones. "Don't lie to me." Nightmare said.
Nightmare knew, and Killer was aware of that. Killer decided to give in and tell Nightmare the truth.
"Well, just as I was entering the portal, I got this weird... feeling." He started. "I'm not too sure what it was, it felt like a rope was tied around me and was dragging me towards whatever I was sensing." he continued.
Nightmare just stared, a silent signal to continue. "When I reached whatever was luring me, It was buried in the rubble of a building. I dug it out and found a child... a human child." He said.
Nightmare looked at him, then moved to look behind him, now seeing the small infant snuggled in a blanket, silently listening to the conversation.
Nightmare wanted to be mad, but he felt something about this child. She felt... strong, powerful.
"I will allow you to raise this child, Killer. I can sense great power within it. I trust you will train her well." Nightmare said.
Killer looked at Nightmare in surprise. He went on to say, "Thank you Nightmare, I won't let you down. When am I able to go to another au to collect the necessities to raise her?"
Nightmare thought. "I'll seek out the best au to collect the items you need and send you there as soon as possible." He said.
Nightmare exited the room, leaving Killer alone with the child again.
