John Carter

The taps of Louis' sneakers on the marble floor echoed through the whole house. My mum tried to hide her smile while my father glared at the doorway for him to come through.

"Well good afternoon my lovely family" his beaming smile from ear to ear made my lip corners turn up a bit.

His duffle bag was thrown over his shoulder and his camera bag was on his hip. He had a small tan which made it look like his light brown hair now was the same color as his skin.

My mum jumped up and wrapped her arms around him "good to see you again"

Even though my father started hating Louis after he moved out at 18 and didn't take over my father's company, he was still was my mums favorite.

Louis was never in one place, he always moved from country to country to make pictures.

He took a seat next to me at the huge dining table "how is little Johnie doing?" He gave me one of his cheeky smiles because he knew how much i hated that name.

"So how was Kongo?" He took a sip of his coffee that the maid put in front of him "warm, lots of illnesses" i leaned back in my chair.

My farther mumbled something from across the table. Both Louis and me looked up while my mum let out a heavy sigh. I knew what he said without hearing it, he said something about my job.

I was never my father's favorite but after Louis left, he expected me to take over his company, but i never wanted to be a lawyer.

After i told him i was going to medical school he liked me even less.

I glared at him for a second before saying "if you have something bad to say about me then at least don't be a wimp and say it in my face"

The vein on my father's forehead started to come up. Nobody ever talked to him like that. All too scared off a little man.

"I said you should've got a normal and easy job like a lawyer" his accent came out heavily.

I swear im gonna strangle him

My mum looked at me pleadingly not to go in a discussion but I couldn't help it.

"I like my job and i like what i did the past year"

"You're wasting your time, helping people that you don't even know? You're an idiot for even trying"
