You Can't Break My Heart if I don't Have One

Chapter 7

"Brooke! Brooke! Brooke!" I awoke to see Carter standing on the side of my bed yelling.

"Yeah what?" I said still half asleep and wondering why he felt it necessary to wake me up.

"Lauren and Hailey are trying to see if you want to go to breakfast I guess they called you a few times and you didn't answer so they called me" Carter replied walking back out of my room.

"Oh thanks" I said dragging myself out of bed unsure of if he heard me or not.

I picked up my phone and replied to the girls quickly that I wanted to go and would be ready in a few. I ran a brush through my hair a few times and applied light make up. I stepped into my closet and decided on a maroon sweater and black jean shorts.

I looked at my phone to see they had texted me they were here and hurried downstairs passing Carter and Tristan in the kitchen. Tristan always seemed to be here so I was unfazed by his appearance.

"Brooke" Tristan called right before I stepped out the door.

"Yeah?" I replied turning around

"We should do lunch again sometime soon" He said.

"Yeah for sure, text me and we'll figure it out" I said smiling and turning back to walk over to Lauren's car.

"Hey" Both girls chimed as I stepped into the car.

"Hi" I replied smiling.

Honestly I was really grateful for them accepting me into their friend group so fast and making an effort to do things with me. This whole move would have been a lot harder if I had no one to hang out with.

"Are you excited for the trip next week?" Lauren asked and until then I had almost forgotten about the cabin trip coming up.

"Oh yeah, it sounds fun" I replied.

"It is, soo still nothing between you and Carter?" Hailey asked wiggling her eyebrows at me.

"no I told you he's annoying" I replied rolling my eyes.

"Oh yeah cause I sleep on top of all the guys I find annoying" Lauren said sarcastically making reference to the night I fell asleep watching the movie.

"Oh shut up I was too tired to move" I replied laughing.

"mmmhmm" Lauren said pulling into a waffle house.

We sat down at a booth and they continued to harass me insisting there was something going on with me and Carter.

"Nothing, nothing at all ya sure?" Hailey asked after ordering not believing me there was nothing between me and Carter.

"Absolutely nothing, besides I don't do the whole 'love' and 'dating' thing" I insisted.

"You sound just like Carter" Lauren said and Hailey agreed with her.

I had to admit we were some what similar in the way we both didn't really believe in the whole falling in love and dating cliches, maybe thats why we didn't always get along too well; we were too alike.

"I guess were pretty similar" I admitted after thinking it over.

"Yeah except you're a lot less arrogant" Hailey laughed and I smiled agreeing just as our food arrived.

"Im so tired" Lauren moaned rubbing her eyes.

"Yeah Laur Carter tried to invite Jacob over last night and he said he was gone all night, you wouldn't happen to be the cause of that would you??" I joked half smirking at her.
