Plot: What is a family that doesn't do things together?

(August 26th - 4:37PM)

Tari growled and screeched as she tried desperately to catch her breath, pushing with everything she could gather.

It hurt Meggy's heart to see Tari like this, making her own pain pale in comparison. Her contractions were getting closer together and she was afraid that by this point, she'd give birth before Tari.

Tari: Ahhh! Meggy, I...I can't do this! It's too big, it'll rip me apart!

Meggy: Tari, I know you can do this! Just keep going!

She put her strength into another push, holding Meggy's hand like her life depended on it. Crystal gave Tari a sip of a water bottle while Emily and Alice were offering soft words of encouragement.

Emily: Keep going Momma!

Alice: You can do it!

Tari managed to give them a smile, but only for half a second as she was consumed by her pain.

Finally, Meggy could see that she was making actual progress after almost 2 hours of pushing. Bulging Tari's lips, Meggy saw a small slither of the head from under the water.

Meggy: Keep going Tari, I see the head!

Tari was encouraged and kept up the hard work, pushing as Meggy could see more and more of the head emerging.

Meggy smiled, then grunted as her entire belly felt tighter. Unable to hold back, she gripped her belly with both hands and rubbed it while taking some deep breaths. Lost in pain, Tari didn't notice.

But Meggy looked up and saw Crystal looking back at her with the face of a sudden realisation. Meggy could tell she'd realised what's happening.

She brushed it aside, glaring at her and back at Tari, as if to say "Tari comes first". Meggy nodded back and went back to Tari.

In the minute Meggy was distracted, Tari had managed to push the head to a full crown. She reached her hand down and felt the head, smiling as she pushed with newfound strength.

Meggy stroked Tari's hair, Crystal giving her another sip of water as she gave a big push and the head finally popped out into the water.

Meggy: Tari, the heads out! Just keep pushing!

Crystal rubbed Tari's back and muttered some comforting words, but Meggy began to space out a bit, squatting a bit as she focused on Tari's baby being born. Watching Tari push out the first shoulder made her want nothing more then to push her own baby out.

Upon noticing her thighs shaking and feeling enormous pressure however, Meggy suddenly realised she actually was pushing. She'd been too busy helping Tari that she'd progressed to the point of delivering.

She couldn't think for long though, as Tari screamed suddenly. Alice and Emily recoiled in fear, but Meggy was brought back to reality by Crystal yelling encouraging support.

Crystal: It's almost here Momma! Keep pushing, just one more!

Meggy regained enough awareness to hear Tari scream out and look down as the baby was finally born into the water. Crystal's encouragment worked too well, as Meggy couldn't help herself and push again, even as she brought Tari's baby up out the water.

The newborn wailed and cried as it's skin met the air, Meggy smiling even though she was still in pain. The twins had a look of awe on their faces, while Tari slumped against the pool wall. Delivering the placenta in one more small push, Her belly was already deflating back to normal size and she laughed as Crystal gave her a warm smile.
