Alec drove ten miles before he slowed down. He watched intently from side mirrors to ensure they were not followed by trackers. Jake looked pale and weak, he puts a towel in hand and put pressure on his wound to keep it from bleeding.
He pulls over at a gas station beside a diner parking it on a corner. He opened his door and hurried to Jakes side. "Let me heal you" he said. Jake removed the towel slowly trying to reduce the burning pain from his lower body.
Alec knelt put both his hands just above Jakes wound. His palms glowed white. He felt the energy coming from him. Jake felt his skin knit itself. It took longer than expected. It was deep. We stayed there for more than fifteen minutes. I started to feel better.
"All done, you better clean up. We don't want to get suspicious" he pointed at the restroom. "Your bag is in the trunk."
"I'll be at the diner and order us some food before we leave."
I was wearing ripped shirt covered in blood and in my boxers. I stretched my stiff arms. Stripped off my dirty clothes washed the blood on my skin and wore the gray hoodie and cargo shorts.
It was five in the morning. There weren't that much people. It wasn't a surprise. I entered the diner pushing the door open with a bell. I see him immediately waving at me to his table.
I sat across him. "Is father still alive?" I said in a low voice.
"Yes he is, he escaped to Limbo"
I leaned back on the chair relieved.
"But he won't be coming back to the Overworld any time soon."
I understood so I nod. Going into Limbo is easy but getting back to Overworld is trouble.
Afterwards the waitress gave us the food. "Two burger muffins with egg, hot coco and tea, call me if there is anything I could help you with." She said enthusiastically. I watched the waitress walk back to the counter.
"There is something I need to show you" I told him.
"What is it?" he said. I looked around to make sure there wasn't anyone looking our way. I extend my hand and the rush of energy flowed across my arms then shadows swirled around my hands.
He furrowed his brows and said under his teeth "Did Adam know about this?"
"I don't know. Maybe" I said. I wasn't sure. Maybe he knew and hid the truth from me. Father doesn't lie but he doesn't tell the truth either. It was impossible for our bloodline to possess such a power.
Basically, only the father's power can be passed down to the child. At the age of seven either you become a Halfling or a mere mortal. I just turned sixteen and something changed in me, I felt it. Nine years too late my powers surfaced. All this time they thought I was mortal. I am a Halfling now.
Our bloodlines gave us the ability to manipulate elements into our own. We pass each other questions which we can't answer. We had to wait for father. He's might be the only person who knows the truth. We shrug the thought off.
Uncle remembered only stories of this power. It resembles the Phasmas, one of the Halfling bloodlines that went extinct during the Purging centuries ago. I have the power to control over shadows.
Back then Earth was occupied by Halflings like us. There were no mortal. They lived in peace and war. The world was manifested by magic.
A phenomenon called the Convergence happens every ten-thousand years. The alignment of the planets opened the gates of hell. Satan unleashed his demons and laid waste to the world. He did not plan to go back to Hell. He will make the earth his own. The battle between demons and Halfling lasted thousands of years; one after another bloodlines were severed. The time came that we were outnumbered one to a thousand demons. We had no choice but run into hiding. The Earth we know was no more. It was an abstract hellish dimension. You could see the hellfire's from the cracks of the Earth. It was then called Limbo, where demons can roam freely and they were stronger. The demons hunted us down and there were little of us left.
