i was visiting my half-sister kie for the summer, and i was more excited than ever. we just started becoming close after kie and my mom messaged me, asking to come see them. when my parents broke up, my dad got custody and we moved to new york. i'm one year older than kie so when i went to college we lost the little contact we had with each other.

i knocked on the door and kie strangled me with a hug, "we're going to have the best summer ever!"

she showed me to my room and i got settled in. we talked about everything we've missed as sisters and decided we needed to re-make them.

later that night, i worked on some of the work i was assigned for the summer. kie had went out with her friends but promised we'd do each other's make up and watch old movies when she got back.

i walked down the stairs in just my shorts and sports bra, "hey kie, is it ok if i grab a snack?" i asked with my headphones in while staring at my phone.

"yeah! oh and these are my friends" she answered and i took out one of my head phones.

a blonde boy with blue eyes leaned against the edge of the couch, "how long are you staying princess?"

kie swatted at him and rolled her eyes, "ignore him y/n. that's jj, the one who asked you a weird question with no good intentions. then that's pope, the brainiac. and john b and sarah."

"hi guys, i'm y/n" i introduced myself to them.

"she's in college! she goes to nyu and is studying to become a marine biologist" kie proudly informed them.

the boy pope walked towards me, "is nyu a good option? i need to apply-"

"ok that's enough, you're scaring her off with your guys' weird questions" kie put her hands up and walked me to the kitchen.

she opened the fridge and handed me a juice, "wanna come on the boat with us tonight?"

"no no no, i don't wanna intrude or anything-"

jj cut me off, "you would absolutely not be intruding. in fact we would love for you to come, especially me"

i forced a smile and nodded, "are we swimming?"

"yes, so wear a swimsuit and bring a sweatshirt because it gets chilly after"

i put on a purple bikini and my grey college sweatshirt. i liked nyu, but i didn't love it. my dream always was to become a marine biologist and i thought going to a college in new york would keep me close with my dad, but it didn't.

i got on the boat and sat next to the blonde boy, "is this what you guys always do?"

"pretty much. sorry about early" he apologized with a laugh.

i shook my head, "it's fine. i think i might stay, so it's nice to be introduced to people here"

"like, move here?"

i shrugged, "maybe. new york just isn't my thing anymore"

the blue eyed boy smiled, "that's a good idea- i mean if you feel that it's good for you"

jj seemed like someone i'd have a love interest in. i always chose the wrong boys and he seemed like he'd be another one of them. or maybe he could just be my summer fling and we'd become best friends after. either way, i liked these people and becoming close with my sister again, was amazing.
