"She's still so young, she shouldn't have to worry about theses things" you overheard your mother tell your father in the kitchen, you would usually sit down on the steps of the stairs and listen to the conversations your parents had when they thought you we're asleep.

"Yes I know but how will she learn if we don't start now" Your father said raising his voice impatiently.

"Not like this, not with you like this" your mother said.

you could already tell this conversation wasn't going to end good so you slowly made your way up the steps as you heard your father slam his beer bottle down on the kitchen table.

"No need for that, y/n is asleep and you're going to wake her" your mother told him firmly.

that was the last thing you heard your mother say before you made your way to bed.

Your parents haven't been doing good financially since your mother only owns a small bakery not to far from your school and your father is supposed to be working in the city but he stopped getting pay checks a while ago. With all the financial stress your father started drinking, alot.

You would lay in bed at nights and listen to the arguing and yelling from downstairs, all the words and loud noises. It always ended in your mother crying and walking into your room trying to calm you down and telling you everything is alright while trying to hide the fact that she's been crying.

You two tried running away, multiple times actually but your father always found you two or got the police involved by lying which left you no choice but to go home.

"It's alright darling, you're okay" your mother whispered while she sat on the edge of your bed, stroking your back.

"I promise, I'll get us out of here" your mother spoke more quite then the first whisper, moving a piece of your hair behind your little ear.

"Are you okay mamma?" You asked your mother concerned, trying your best to be quiet.

You could see she wasn't, that she's been crying and she has a bloody nose which she only wiped away.

"Don't worry about me pumpkin, you should try going back to sleep now okay?" She sighed

You nodded your head slightly as a response while yawning and falling asleep beneath your mothers touch.

It's your tenth birthday today and your mother thought she'd try her best to surprise you with a gift or two but your father made it impossible since he hated birthdays but she still tried.

"Come on, go get ready and meet me downstairs I need to show you something" she said excitedly and made her way out of your room.

You did as you we're told and went downstairs, you and your mother started walking down the street of Zaun. You walked past multiple market stalls and beautiful merchandise but shortly after you arrived at your mothers bakery.

"Surprise" your mother smiled and you had a confused look on your face.

"What's the surprise?" You asked, furrowing your brows.

"You and me, are going to live in the attic of my bakery dear" she said, her smile growing even wider.

"Wait really?!" You asked, excitement in your voice.

"Yes really! I made up an excuse to your father and we'll be safe here for aslong as we possibly can" she said, lowering herself to your level with her hand on your shoulder.

"Do you want to look around sweetheart?" She asked and smiled at you gently.

"Yes please!" You said and starting running into the bakery and instantly going to the back and climbing the ladder to the attic.

You gasped as you looked around at the room before you ran to which looked like your bed and instantly layed down on your back.

"Do you like it?" You heard a voice from the ladder.

"I love it!" You yelled back and smiled happily.

Your mother made her way over to you and layed down next to you on the small space left of the bed.

"It'll be better from now on, I promise" your mother said as she kissed your cheek.
