— WALKING ON THE COLD, WET SAND of the beach's shore, was a girl. She was young, no older than twelve or thirteen soaked from head-to-toe in sea water, it dripped off of her drenched black dress and fell to the black sand in small little droplets.
She'd been walking for hours it'd seemed like, yet she still had no idea as to where she was going... what she was searching for. All she could remember before waking up was her mother telling her not to step too close to the ship's edge and later falling into the dark abyss that she'd woken in.
"Don't step too close, Misa! It's dangerous!"
Moments later she'd felt herself tumbling over the edge as the ship went over a large wave. The moment she'd touched the freezing, pitch black water her memories began to fade.
She was tired, tired of walking in a soaked dress that weighed her down, tired of walking on sand and fighting against the strong winds. She collapsed in her spot, completely worn out and unable to continue. Ever since she'd awoken from her sleep, her body felt like it was eating, burning and freezing itself from the inside out. She felt like she was dying, she didn't even understand how she'd walked as far and long as she did.
But now it truly felt like the end, it seemed like all the energy she once had was being ripped from her...
And it was, and soon she'd be renewed, filled to run off of an entirely new and foreign energy to what once was her kind.
She was transforming, morphing into a newer, stronger version of herself; one that— regardless of all its gifts —she would come to hate.
The girl grasped at her neck, feeling like she was being branded right on the pale, thin skin of her collarbone. If she didn't know any better she'd of thought someone was carving a mark into her flesh.
Everything was so painful in that moment. Thrashing and moaning in pain, without any doubt; she believed she was going to die in that moment. But suddenly...
Everything stopped.
And she was in pure bliss.
