43. Nandini's new friend

After leaving the Malhotra Mansion, Navni were moving towards Nandini's cab. On reaching there, Navya stops Nandini on feeling something wet on her hand which was holding Nandini's hand. She looks at Nandini and freaks out.

Nav: Oh God!! Nandu, you are hurt very badly, it is bleeding like hell. Where are you lost?

She tears the end of her dupatta and ties it on Nandini's wound. Nandini all this time was standing with her head hung low.

Nan: Sorry Navya

Nav (Confused): Sorry? For what?

Nan (while keeping her head low): Today so much happened with you because of me. Those goons were sent for me and not you, but they mistook you for me. I am sorry because of me you had to suffer through this. I told you before also, I am saying it again, please stay away from me Navya, I'll only give you pain.

Navya raises her head holding her chin.

Nav: If it pains by staying with you, then I happily accept this pain Nandini. Because this is a strange pain, which instead of giving trouble, relaxes me, instead of tears, gives me a smile. You remember that they mistook me for you but don't you remember that You are the only one who saved me from them also? Nandu, whatever I said inside, that was absolutely true, I don't want to loose your friendship at any cost. Please don't send me away from you.

And about today, then I am glad that I was along you, otherwise I would have never witnessed your Dharmendra Avatar (A strong Bollywood hero). Oh really Nandu, what were those punches, you knocked out all in just a snap. 

And she goes on and on.

Nandini was all the time staring at her. How she was adamant to be by her side. All Nandini's pledges of not making friends were getting lost somewhere and she wasn't upset on that because somewhere her heart had recognised that this time, this friendship would be for a lifetime. All of a sudden, she asks..

Nan: Will you be my friend?

This stopped Navya's chanting abruptly. She looks at Nandini with wide open eyes.

Nav: What... What did you just say?

Nan: I don't have a friend Navya, neither do I make one But today my heart has asked for this friendship but I may not be the good friend. I have not told about many things in my life to anyone, you will have a lot of questions that I won't be able to answer to, still I want to be your friend, Will you? Will you be able to trust me?

Navya just hugs her and cries.

Nav: You know Nandini, I was so scared today, by their talks, and when they were dragging me with them, I thought nobody will come to save me, but then you came. And just like my hero fought with them.

Nandini was rubbing her back to calm her down.

Nan: Shh... Navya, I am here, no need to get scared.

Nav: I know Nandini, till the time you are with me, I don't need to get scared.

Breaking the hug, she continues,

Nav: Nandu, I don't know what are the things that you haven't spoken about to anyone, nor do I know why you don't make friends. But I know that you are the best person in the universe. When I considered you as my friend, you did so much for me, now think for a while if you make someone your friend then what all will you do for them!

I will never leave the chance of gaining your friendship, never.

This gets a big wide smile on Nandini's face.
