I'll be okay

FLASHBACK

"Surprise"!!!
Startled, she looked to her side and saw her mum  holding a well decorated cake with roses made out of icing sugar and has an inscription on it 'Happy birthday bby'..... With it were 6candles at the top of the cake.
"Mum"!!.. "You scared me" she says laughing and going towards her mother.
"I'm sorry b, I couldn't get sixteen candles...bt d six is ok, right??"her mum said
"Oh mum" she laughed  and reaching to take the cake from her, she set the cake on the kitchen cabinet and held her mum's hands.
She said"Mum, the candles are okay and I love the cake... It's beautiful..."
"Just like you" her mum interrupted and lovingly touched her checks
Her mum continues"Happy birthday my beautiful baby girl, Arike mi"
"Thanks mum.. and mum, I'm nt a bby"
"Yes you are"her mum said and continues
"You are still my bby and you always will be my bby" she laughs
"Mum"!!!she still protested anyways
Her mum waved her off and continued"knell down let me pray for you"
She knelt down in front of her mum and her mum prayed for her with her saying amen at the end of each 'IJN'
Her mum continued after the prayers and blessings "Owo mi mejeji ni maa fi gbe Omo e"(I'll use my two hands to carry your children)
She shouted "Amen" and they both laughed.
"Now come and make a wish and blow the candles"
"Yes mother" she made a wish and blew the candles.
END OF FLASHBACK

"I still remember the wish"I said with a voice of someone who has been fighting hard to hold her tears as soon as I heard the door to my room open, I knew who it was so I just continued talking "I wished ....that my dad would come to apologize for abandoning I and my mum, and that mum will take him back and we'll be a happy family and I'll have siblings...twins to be precise" I smilled,sniffed and continued
"But instead of granting that wish of addition, subtraction was made and my mum was taken instead" I sniffed still and continued
"She made a promise to me u knw" I looked at my aunt who had been listening to all I've been saying quietly....and continued
"She promised never to leave like dad left, she promised that she'll always be there for me, she promised that she'll..." and that was all it took for me to break down in tears.
Aunt Bisi pulled me in a very warm and comforting embrace and I must say I needed one at that time.
I'm really not close to my aunt, but right now all I need is someone I can open up to and pour out the pain in my chest....so I just stayed there in her embrace and cried my heart out.

My name is Abimbola Opajobi,I'm 16yrs old and I just lost the only person I looked up to as a parent, best friend and sister, my mum.
She was the best mother in the world, she went through a lot of insults and hardship just so she could send me to school, she was selfless, strong, and she also tries as much as possible to help people around her; either physically, financially, prayer wise or health wise...
My mum was a nurse and by the grace of God no child/bby's death record was made while she was alive.
She was my role model and simply beautiful..'smiles'.... I still remember her beautiful smile and warm touch and comforting hug.
But all that is gone now, she's gone to the underworld.. and I'll miss her Soo much, bt I'll be okay.

After calming me down aunt Bisi pulled me out of the hug and said "Your mum might not be here, bt you have God and we're here for you; and by we, I mean I and your uncle's and your other aunties"...she stopped and continued
"You'll be okay, you just have to move forward and think positive, your mother's death is not the end of the world, did u hear?"
"Hmm" I said and I'm thankful she didn't say anything after that.... I think she understood I had more to say.
