Rainbow HQ
1:30 PMGabriel is currently resting in his room which is where he's spent most of his time ever joining Rainbow. He knows his isolation won't do him any good in terms of building trust, but he's not exactly in the best of places to begin with.
Gabriel opens one of his eyes hearing a knock on the door as he reaches over and opens it to see Lera in a tank top and leggings.
"What brings you here?" Gabriel asks rubbing the crap off his eyes with Lera deciding to enter the room as she looks around.
Gabriel is audibly annoyed with this just wanting to know what she came here for.
"Sam wants to see your skills first-hand but how are you settling in?" Lera asks noticing how empty the room is of character, not a surprise given he likely didn't bring much of any personal items.
"I'm fine, where am I going?" Gabriel asks with Lera walking past motioning for him to follow which he does.
"I noticed you haven't left your room that much." Lera states as they walk just some of the French Operators.
"What of it?" Gabriel questions with some attitude in his voice.
Lera glances over not appreciating the response and gives a glare showing her disapproval.
"If you're gonna be on this team then you need to get to know the people here, there's no lone wolfing this." Lera replies like a demand rather than a request.
"Fine... If that's big of a deal." Gabriel says not wanting to get into a fight, especially against Lera who could definitely make him regret picking a fight.
The two continue walking till they arrive at the shooting range to see Sam with a woman with a Nighthaven logo. Gabriel pays it no mind as they approach Sam who finishes his conversation with Osa and turns his attention to them.
"Lera thank you for bringing Drozdov here, you ready to work?" Sam directs to Gabriel who nods ignoring the aching pain in his side. "Good, load some magazines for your weapons I wanna see how good of a shot you are."
Gabriel nods loafing two magazines for his AS Val and Glock 19 as he feels his side aching up again.
"The hell is going on?" Gabriel mentally asks himself as this is rather new one for him. Regardless Gabriel steps up to the range taking aim and begins firing his AS Val in single shot at first.
Gabriel lands pretty simple shots landing center mass till he empties the magazine. He loads the second one and switches to full auto and fires showing off his weapon's high fire rate and the subsonic cartridge making it quieter than your average rifle with a suppressor.
Gabriel places his AS Val down and goes to pull out his Glock when he feels a painful tear at his side. Gabriel grunts out clutching his side and something leaking down his side.
"Gabriel you okay?" Lera asks approaching and somewhat lifts Gabriel's shirt up to see a wound bleeding profusely. "The hell happened here?" Lera asks laying him down on a nearby couch.
"I was shot there when this whole on the run thing started... I pulled some fragments out to try to ease the pain but looks like I missed some." Gabriel retorts wincing as Lera is starting to treat it and trying to search for the other fragments.
"You really are unlucky, most people would've just went to the hospital but you're not most people." Lera states trying to be humorous but it falls flat for Gabriel.
Gabriel just closes his eyes and hopes this can be over and done with. While it is slow and painful for Gabriel, Lera is finding and removing the fragments.
"I guess you're kinda lucky, your ribcage seems to be perfectly fine and you're breathing without struggle so your lungs are okay." Lera says as Gabriel opens one of his eyes.
"Didn't realize you were a Doctor... Where'd you go?" Gabriel asks curiously.
"Novosibirsk state university, earned my PhD in microbiology and immunology." Lera replies as Gabriel is intrigued by this.
"How you'd end up in the Spetsnaz then?" Gabriel inquires finding a bit bizarre.
"They found my work helpful in their fights against chemical warfare, my work had saved people before and I saw a chance to do even more." Finka says.
Gabriel grunts out a bit from Finka pulling out the last of the fragments and applies a cloth to the bleeding wound.
"I'm gonna stitch this up properly now okay?" Finka asks earning a nod from Gabriel as she begins stitching his wound. "So... Where you from?"
"Samara Russia." Gabriel replies with his eyes closed.
"Ah... I heard it's a beautiful city, you talk to your family yet?" Finka asks as Gabriel shakes his head hearing this. "No?"
Gabriel lays there uncomfortably but looks at her.
"I don't know what to say to them, what can I say?" Gabriel asks rhetorically.
Finka sits before him while applying the stitches.
"If my old man was still around and saw my situation? He'd rip me to shreds... Say I shamed the family." Gabriel blurts out.
Finka stops what she's doing hearing this.
"Did he abuse you?" Finka asks.
"What? No! My old man... He... He wasn't exactly the easiest to understand... Comes with being in the Spetsnaz but he loved me in his unique way, but... Nothing made him more proud than me joining the military and all my accomplishments." Gabriel reminiscences fondly with a smile.
Finka sits next to him continuing to apply the stitches.
"What happened to your old man?" Finka asks.
"Passed away, natural causes... Funny thing is though? He was adamant that he'd rather die to a bullet than old age... That was the only death that made sense to him." Gabriel says zoning out but Finka finishing up applying the stitches.
"There, try to take it easy for a few days alright?" Finka asks as Gabriel nods and stands up and touches his side. "But Gabriel, I'm certain your old man would know that you aren't a war criminal."
Gabriel looks at Finka hearing this.
"Maybe he would... But do you believe that I'm not a war criminal?" Gabriel asks rhetorically thinking she sees him like that.
Finka stands up and walks up to Gabriel.
"I believe you are a good man who gave everything he had to his country but was screwed over cause he wanted to do the right instead of letting bullshit politics get in the way... That's just my opinion though." Finka says walking past him.
Gabriel processes this as Finka is right to a degree but he's not sure if he'd call himself a good man, not after his plentiful of mistakes.
