Strange Morning

For the weekend, the twins have spent their time in their room. They only left their quarters to either eat, get the mail, or use the bathroom. Moreover, the weekend was spent in silence. Their parents have not said a word, not even their father. The only sound they heard throughout the weekend was the occasional vomiting from their pregnant mother. The mother has been pregnant for at least three months now. The doctor could easily conclude the baby's gender but their mother would rather keep it a surprise until the ninth month.

The obnoxious sound of the alarm has awoken Sebastian from his overnight sleep. He lazily moved his arm to silence the blinking clock, pressing the button to turn off the alarm. He then slowly open his groggy eyes to peek at the time. It reads 5:40 a.m, the time that Sebastian have always woken up whenever there was school on that day. However, Mia enjoys sleeping in, no matter what day it is. With the thought of Mia in his mind, Sebastian got off of his messy bed. He glances at the scrambled sheets but he decided to fix them later after he has woken his sister.

Sebastian exited his room and walked across the hall to Mia's room. He knocked two times before entering, just in case that Mia is surprisingly up at this time. However, for the first time since the twins birth, Mia has opened the door. To his surprise, she has straightened her hair and she is wide awake. From behind her, the room was fairly clean. The bed was made, the game systems was dusted off along with the rest of her dust-coated items. Even the hardwood floor was swept and mopped.

"Morning~" Mia said happily.

Sebastian replied "Good morning...it's a surprise that you're up this early"

She shrugged her shoulders "I couldn't sleep at all last night"

"What happened to your room?" He asked, as if it was a bad thing to see it this clean.

She looked over her shoulder, then back at Sebastian "Well, I got bored. So, I cleaned it"

He stared blankly at her "You..cleaned it?"

"Mhm!" Mia said with a smile.

Sebastian stared at her for quite awhile. He only averted his eyes when his sister started to giggle because of the long, quiet stare. "We leave in an hour then" he stated as he goes back to his room. "Kay Kay" Mia said, before she went into hers. Sebastian entered his room and started to put his pillows and blankets on the floor to organize the bed. He then spread his sheets across the mattress and placed the pillows on top of the blanket. Afterwards, he folded his throw blanket and placed it on top of the comforter. Once he was finished, he went over to his closet and picked out a white polo shirt, a pair of black khaki's, and a pair of black dress shoes. Sebastian and Mia's school has a required uniform policy, which contains a white polo, black khaki's, plus black sneakers. Because of this policy, there have been less bullying and "gangs" around the school. The bullying over the clothing of choice has decreased, however, other reasons to pick on children have increased, especially on the twins. Mia gets especially angry when the other students bully or even hurt Sebastian. A few months ago, Sebastian has found his lunchbox in the trash can, along with notebook he owns that was covered with yogurt. When Mia found out about this act, she tracked down the student responsible and started to fight with him. Instead of verbal abuse, she uses physical abuse to teach others a lesson. However, she only hurts others to protect her brother. The twins both protect each other, yet they don't want to agree with that statement. Sebastian has always complained about Mia's "untidiness" or "laziness" as Mia complained about Sebastian being a "stiff" or a "babysitter". Their eagerness to protect one another is clearly obvious, however, they refuse to accept it.

Sebastian glanced at his clock to check the time. It now reads 6:30 a.m., which means it took Sebastian exactly 50 minutes to make his bed, change his clothes, brush his hair, and brush his teeth. It usually takes him almost an hour to complete these tasks because it was always a hassle to wake up his sleeping twin. However, since she was mysteriously up this morning, he doesn't have to make the effort of shaking her sleeping body. Once he had his shoes on, he left his room and headed for the bathroom which was at the end of hallway.
