Chapter 20: Thrid Exam Begins

It has been a few days since we made it to the tower.  After getting healed and resting, today was finally the start of the third and final exam. Right now, all the other genin teams that passed and I were gathered in a large arena. At the same time, the Jounin sensei were gathered behind Sarutobi-sensei, the Hokage.

"First off, congrats on passing the second exam. The hokage will now explain the third exam!" The proctor from the second exam announced.

I watched as Sarutobi-sensei walked up to the front of the room, about to explain the third round of the Chunin Exams.

"The third round will consist of individual matches, so from here on out, everyone is your opponent, even your teammates. There is a chance you could be matched against them," He explained.

'So that means I could end up fighting Tsunade or Jiraiya.' I thought as I watched a woman walk up to the front as Sarutobi signaled her to come forward.

"I, Himari Hyuga, will be the protector of the third exam," She started. "There are six teams meaning there are 18 Genin left. The screen behind me will randomly select names to fight. Those who will today match will move on to the finals, where the federal lords will gather to watch the matches," She continued as a Screen appeared behind her. "Let's now see who the first match is."

The screen then started going through names until it stopped on two names.

Honoka Neko vs. Dan Kato!

"The first match is Honoka Neko and Dan Kato. This two stay down here. While the rest of you head up the stairs to wait for your turn!"

We all headed up the stairs as a girl with a Hidden Grass headband with peach skin and shoulder-length white hair with black cat ears and tail stood on one side, and on the other was a boy a year older than me from the Hidden leaf with pale blue hair.

I now stood in the waiting area with Tsunade and Jiraiya, and as the first match was about to begin.

"The match is over will either someone for its or dies, but of course, I can end the match at any time to avoid death," She announced. "Now begin the first match!"

"What kind of justu do you think that cat girl can use?" Jiraiya asked.

"She a Neko, and she has a name dobe," I muttered as I watched Honoka charge at Dan on all fours."From her running, possibly the same as the Inuzuka clan."

"I can see that by the running, but there justu might be a bit different from fang over fang. I aame they most likely use their claws more," Tsunade commented.

I nodded as I continued to watch the match, studying both of them just in case I needed to fight one of them in the final matches.

'They're both pretty good at Taijutsu. ' I thought, watching Dan counter Honoka's punches and kicks.

"Earth style," I commented, seeing the hand signs Honoka was now making.

Th match continued to go on for a while until Honoka collapsed from Charka exhaustion.

"The winner is Dan Kato!" She announced as medics took Honoka to go heal, and Dan headed up the stairs.

"They were both pretty good, but I'm still the best ninja here!" Jiraiya boasted.

"Oh, just shut it, dobe I'm better than you, and so is everyone else here," I stated.

"Orochimaru, I show you teme!" He glared.

"Yeah, you can show me when it's your match," I muttered, looking to see who was next.

The screen then started to go through names until it stopped on two names.

Dai Namikaze vs. Ema Satō!

The next match is Dai Namikaze vs. Ema Satō!" She announced.

I then saw a boy around our age walk down the stair with short spiky blonde hair and blue eyes wearing a Hidden Leaf headband. Then a girl two years older walks down from the other side with long brown hair with a Hidden Leaf headband as well.

'So now two Hidden Leaf ninjas are fighting against each other this time.' I thought as the second match was started.

I continued to watch the matches take place while waiting for my turn.

So far, three Hidden Leaf Shinboi had a battle and one Hidden Grass, and two Hidden Rain Shinboi. So that was six matches so far.

The next match was now being determined as the screen finally stopped on the opponents for the next match.

Kaori Kamei vs. Tsunade Senju!

The next match is Kaori Kamei vs. Tsunade Senju. Both opponents cone down and take your places!" She announced.

"Looks like it's my turn," Tsunade said.

"Go Tsunade and beat somebody that isn't me for once," Jiraiya commented.

"Tsuna, good luck against your opponent," I said, giving her a small smile.

"Thanks, Orochimaru," Tsunade said. "Jiraiya, just shut up!" She said, punching him as she walked past him.

"Why me," He muttered.

I ignored him as Tsunade was now getting ready to fight a female Hidden Sand shinobi.

"The match between Kaori and Tsunade will now begin!" The proctor announced, signaling for the match to begin as both opponents arrived on the arena ready to battle.
