"Hello, Minerva." Snape said calmly.
"Hello Severus. Ready for the start of term?" Minerva asked.
"Why would i be." He said.
"The answer i expected." She sighed. "You're always so glum. Brighten up a bit."
"It takes too much energy." He replied in his usual monotone voice.
"Well, at least give a bit of effort to not look like there is not one person in the world that could cheer you up." She said, knowing her words would be of no use.
"There isn't." He told her.
"Listen." She paused for a moment, as if to make sure she chose her next words correctly. "I know you will always be upset about Lily. You lost someone you loved. But you will have to move on eventually." She said with a look or sympathy.
"Easier said than done, Minerva." He said.
"The same thing happened to me. I lost almost everything. But i found something that cheered me up in the end."
He pondered her words for a short moment before replying.
"I guess I can make a small effort if you insist."
"I do." She said with a soft smile.
"Well, we best be off to the Great Hall. The students will be here rather soon." She said as she walked towards the door.
"Alright." He said, looking just as glum as usual, if not more.

"Welcome everyone! I think it is time to get started with the sorting ceremony. Quiet down, if you will." Dumbledore said with a smile.
Everyone watched as McGonagall walked up to the front of the Hall, carrying a wooden stool, and the Sorting Hat.
The usual swarm of student were walking up to get sorted in turn.
One girl in particular caught Snapes eye. She had long flowing blond hair and grey eyes.
Professor McGonagall continued calling the names.
"Draco Malfoy?" She called.
A small boy with bleach-blond hair walked up to the stool an sat down.
Before the hat had fully been put on his head, it yelled out "Slytherin!"
The table doused in green and black cheered and clapped as the boy walked over to the table with a smirk on his face.
"Ellia Malfoy?"
The girl that had caught his eye walked up to the stool.
After around thirty seconds, the hat shouted "it better be... Gryffindor!"
The Gryffindor table clapped and cheered as she walked over and sat down next to a girl with bushy brown hair.
Draco looked at her with dislike.
She looked back at him with a smile on her face.
Snape watched, mezmorized.
He averted his gaze as Dumbledore started his welcome speech.
He wasn't really paying attention to what he was saying, though.
He kept think about the girl.
She was beautiful.
But he knew he couldn't have her.
It was forbidden.
A guy could only dream.
