UNEXPECTED

Chapter One

After checking on one of his patient, Henry went after Rea and forcefully grabbed her wrist.

“You didn't even check on her, she could've died!” Henry murmured looking at Rea’s eyes with anger.

“I’m so sorry—ahh! That hurts!” Henry tightens his grip on her wrist, but Enzo arrived with Lexine at the scene and pulled Henry.

Henry glared at them and walked away  leaving the three.

“Are you okay?” Lexine asked and Rea nodded.

“Don’t get to close to him, he has such bad temper.” Lexine said and take her out of the waiting area.

“Heard he’s your ex husband.” Enzo said facing Lexine and took a glance on Rea.

She didn’t answer, she just took Rea to the reception.

“Enzo?!” Enzo heard a familiar voice, it was Zen, his childhood friend, who’s now a lieutenant.

“When did you came back?” Zen asked hitting his shoulder.

“Last, last month, I guess? What are you doing here?” He asked.

“I’ll be checking on one of my colleague, he got shot by a thief.” She said giving him a reassuring grin.

“I’ll be going then.” Zen said and walked away from him.

Zen went to Dave’s room, she sat beside him. “I told you to run, dumbass.” She whispered.

“Atleast we caught him.” He chuckled.

Zen stood and went to the window, she felt the strong cold wind.

‘Winter has started.’ She thought.

Zen always hated winter, most of the criminals show up on winter, especially those murderers.

“You getting better?” She asked and crossed her arms.

“yeah, I got beaten pretty bad too but, I’m getting better.” Dave replied to reassure her.

“I’mma go take a leave, get well soon buddy.” Zen said and left Dave.

Zen was promoted as lieutenant, she only have a partner, which is Dave who’s now resting at the hospital.

She dialed Raine’s number to tell her what happened last night.

“Raine, Dave is now on the hospital of Los Angeles. He’s doing fine now, I’m just thinking that you could visit him.” I said and hung up.

I held my hand and waved at Enzo, we haven’t see each other for 3 or 4 years.

“How are you doin’ man?” Zen asked and walk closer to him.

“I’m doing good, well, I worked lots of murder cases. It’s pretty cool but terrifying at the same time.” Zen said.

“How was the study in New Australia?” Zen asked.

“Ahh, it was great. I had a trip on some places there, I had learned so much. There are friensly people tho.” He said and put the clipboard on the counter.

“Wanna go for coffee?” Zen asked, Enzo nodded and went to his locker, Zen followed him and he put the medical gown. He took his wallet and put it on his pocket.

“Your treat?” Zen chuckled.

“Sure... Do you still have contact with the others?” Enzo asked as they walk towards the exit door.

“Well, we actually live under the same roof, Ellie and the others.” Zen said and walked to near coffee shop.

“2 large cup of iced coffee.” Enzo told the waitress.

Nothing changed about his appearance and the way he speaks.

“Stop staring like I did something.” He joked.

“You’re still a bastard, dude. I thought you've changed ” Zen took a deep sigh and opened her phone to check if she recieved a message.

‘You didn’t even clean your room! You disgusting investigator.” Ellie sent her a message, well, Zen is lazy, she hates cleaning.

“Wanna come over?” Zen asked.

“Nahh, I’m busy doing research.” He refuses, the coffee was served on our table, his mood brighten as he took a sip.

“Oh.... Maybe I should invite you on the other day.” Zen said and noticed a two doctors fighting in distant. As female and a male one. The male was approximately 5’9 tall, and the woman was approximately 5’6 tall according to Zen’s assumption.

“Zen? Enzo!” Ellie was surprised to see them together on a coffee shop, she was with Andrei, and Zieku.

“we met each other on the hospital earlier when I visited Dave.” Zen said and took a sip of a coffee.

5 of them were close friends, they were friends since high school, Ellie became a family lawyer, Andrei became a Civil Rights Lawyer, Zieku is now an Engineer. They parted their way when they're in college, they were reunited when Zieku recieved his license as a lawyer.

They lost contact on Enzo when he reached college and decided to study abroad. But they can't blame him tho.

He left for good the thing is he didn't say a thing. He didn't told them that he will leave.

“We’ve missed you bro.” They said and hugged Enzo while crying. Zen was sitting there and not saying anything, letting them have fun.

Zen left them because she felt like she’s not there, she just went back to their headquarters.
