I shoved the bag down on the small square table, and pulled out some of the trackers and set them up around the room. Officials could be crawling the space by now. "Where's the nearest exit to the roof?" I pulled out the laptop and logged on. When Khader didn't answer I screamed the question.
"Downstairs. There's a hall off to the right. It'll take you to the back room and there will be a ladder in the corner." I ran out of the room gun in hand and the rest of the trackers in the other. The ladder was a little hard to climb since it was unstable, but I made it. There were four sections of the hotel and I had five trackers. I set four of them In all four directions and the fifth near the center. I turned them all on and went back inside. The computer was still on when I got back Khader was looking at it. I opened the tracker device system and launched them all. I attached them to the computer signal to give them a wider and stronger signal. There. About two Officials off towards the northwest of the city, and three making their way here from the east. There was four moving in at the north, which was behind the hotel. I cursed. They had us nearly surrounded. I needed to move now. I had just began placing everything back in the bag when I noticed that one of the trackers had gone down. I ran to the computer and searched the launch for it, but there was nothing. Something had shut it off. Then another went down. And another and another and another.
"No. No!" I shut down the laptop and shoved it into the bag. I didn't need the trackers anymore. I went to the window and looked out. This room that Khader had led me to was a little too small for a gun fight and plus it wasn't like I could take out 9 Officials on my own. I looked at Khader. "Got a gun?" He looked confused for a second, then it seemed to dawn on him.
"Yes. But it is downstairs." I looked back out the window at the Officials walking into the hotel.
"I don't think that's gonna be a problem." I ran out of the room, but as I neared the front desk I wrapped my scarf around my head tighter. I heard the bell ring and I walked in. "Jes? Do you need a room?" I made sure to roll my r. The guard smiled.
"No, ma'am. Actually, we were looking for a friend of ours. She's tall, has long brown hair, speaks French and English. Maybe you've seen her?" He leaned casually against the counter just as Khader walked in with towels in his arms.
"Oh, uh, Khader." I said in my fake but real sounding accent. "These men are looking for the American girl. Where has she gone?"
He shrugged. "I put her in room 5. I think she may still be there." He set the towels down and handed me a key. I took it and looked at the guards.
"I will be back soon." I smiled wide beneath my scarf so they could see. I ran up the steps to the room we were just in. I couldn't make my escape now. I had to keep holding up this disguise. I needed something to throw them off. That's when I saw the phone. It was hanging off the side of the duffel. I took it back with me and made a confused face. "I am sorry but she is no longer here? Her stuff, all of it, is gone as well. I only found this." I handed them my cell phone and watched as they grinned.
"It's alright ma'am. Thank you for your co-operation. Please, if you hear from her or see her, contact us." He handed me a card. I shook my head.
"No, i'm sorry, but we do not have a telephone." I tried handing it back but he pushed it back towards me.
"Here." He pulled out his own phone and gave it to me. "Use this in the mean time." He smiled again before saying goodbye and leaving with his buddies. I pulled the scarf off my face I wrapped the phone up in it and began to wipe it off. I did not want my fingerprints on this. "Here." I handed the phone to Khader. He pulled off the back and took out the battery. I smile. "Seems as though you have experience in this department." I said as I ducked beneath the curtain to get back upstairs. Khader stood in the big room while I changed in a bathroom. I put on the black skinny jeans, black T-shirt and army vest. My boots were still wet, but I put them on anyways. I tied my hair up in a ponytail and walked out to Khader. He had a pack on his shoulder. "What are you doing?"
