You've been staying inside your empty and silent home for a good few hours now. You didn't have to tutor Wheezie today, and your parents are out of the island for the night. Your friends made sure to keep you company for the whole afternoon. They even offered to sleep over, but you dismissed all their plans by lying.
You lied for the sole reason that you already have plans for this night. You hate that you have to lie to your friends, and you know that there would be no way of you saying the truth without it being a big problem. All because Rafe is supposed to come over tonight. It had been planned prior to today even. You couldn't say no to him when he asked you if he could, it's him.
Ever since your friends began to leave your house, you already felt your insides turning. You would be seeing Rafe soon, and your body still reacts as if you've never seen him before.
You, unfortunately, haven't been able to see him as much as you would've liked. It's only been a week and you only saw him once at his house. You were almost done tutoring Wheezie and had run for a bathroom break while she was finishing up with her homework. You weren't exactly expecting Rafe to be coming out of his room at the same time as you, but it did happen.
You two didn't dare to say anything to each other. Sarah was in her room, and Wheezie could hear everything from her bedroom.
You simply offered him a smile and walked over to the bathroom. Rafe only had a smaller yet growing grin as he continued to make his way down the stairs too.
Your insides burn at the memories of what you two did the last time you were together. And you swear that these same memories appear in your mind at the worst of times. They're always getting you distracted and making you act awfully quiet in the middle of group conversations or even meals. And you just happen to be awful at hiding the way your sinful thoughts hunt your mind.
You don't know how many times you've dodged questions or any pressuring of your friends to tell them what is on your mind. You swear that you can't hide anything for your life, but you sure are getting better at starting new conversations.
The doorbell rings as you're just finishing up getting dressed after a quick shower, and you begin to walk towards the door. You pull the hoodie down your figure and grab onto the doorknob. You pull the door open to see no one other than Rafe.
"Hi." You tell him with a smile.
"Hi."
You let him in and try not to get distracted with your main task. You keep your eyes on the outside of the house as the door slowly closes before you, doing a once over at every house that could face your entrance.
Your neighbors are the nosiest of everyone on the island. Even yesterday you heard one of your parents gossip about the neighbor's youngest daughter, the one that lives right down the street, and her girlfriend. Everyone knows everything about everyone and you cannot risk anything as big as this ever slipping out. It will be the end of you.
You close the door and turn back around to face Rafe. He's already a few steps away, staring at what's around him. His eyes are focused on some family pictures that your mom has on the walls. You walk to stand beside him, staring at the ones he's looking at - and making sure he's not looking at something extremely embarrassing, aka your baby pictures.
"You were cute." He comments, pointing at one of the pictures.
"Were?" You ask playfully.
He takes his eyes off the picture to look over at you, you're smiling at your own joke, still looking down at the picture and completely oblivious to his staring. Rafe admires your face for a little bit, and you catch on to his silence by deciding to look up. You're surprised by his staring, Rafe can tell right as your smile falters slightly, but it comes back even stronger.
