"A, B, C, D, E, F, G." A young man named Monkey D. Luffy joyfully chanted, waving his arms in the air.
"H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O... L, M, N, O- L... M... Fuck, what comes next?"
"Fuck!" Shouted a tiny voice, looking back up at him from his chair.
The reply he received in return lead Luffy to sprint in the air out of excitement, scaring a chubby little baby boy who was still sat on his highchair, wearing a tiny straw hat his aunt Nami had made for him.
"Torao... T-T-TORAO, HE SAID HIS FIRST WORDS!!" Rushing out of the dining room to share such exciting news with his husband, Luffy was stopped by the man himself when he stormed into the room.
The taller man's eyes were turning red and he was fuming with rage from within.
"Don't teach Lulu how to say swear words, Mugiwara-ya!" He argued with the younger man, using a rather quiet voice out of respect for their baby's ears and to not startle him.
"He still said something!! Something is something!" His partner argued back.
Realizing that there was no use in reasoning with the younger, his husband sighed and looked over at their son who was too distracted with his rattle to look at either one of his fathers.
"I can't believe his first word had to be a bad one."
"Yeaaaah... I'll just teach him how to count this time." Luffy chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Just don't say anything inappropriate in between each number, or he'll be suspended from kindergarten before he even starts school!"
"Noooooooo promises!" Luffy shouted back at his lover while he and his baby giggled in silence together.
"Nishishi!"
"Shishi!! Shishi!!"
Before leaving, Law had a smile from ear to ear drawn across his face as he heard their contagious laughter from afar.
"He laughs just like Luffy."
~Later on that night~
While Luffy was in the kitchen, stacking up on the snacks he wanted to eat before going to bed, Law was inside of a pastel colored room.
The fragrances emitting from within it were sweet, most likely belonging to the baby lotions he and Luffy apply on Lulu after giving him a bubble bath along with other delightful smelling soaps.
The soothing sound of a music box lullaby went peacefully through baby Lulu's soft ears as Law played with his toys, caressing his baby's gentle skin.
A question he's asked Lulu many times, from the moment they adopted him, was if he could say either one of their names, referring to Luffy and himself as "Dada".
"Hey," he spoke in a serious tone with a hint of comedy to it.
"Can you say 'Dada'?"
Baby Lulu slowly removed his chubby thumb out of his mouth, raising his father's hopes up.
"...Aba aba.."
"No no, 'Da da'." Law slowly corrected, feeling how adorably puffy and soft Lulu's pinkish cheeks were.
"B..a....ba." The baby babbled with less confidence, growing tired and cranky.
Law cradled him in his arms, growing entertained by how focused the baby was on his many different tattoos.
"Do you like daddy's tattoos?" A lightbulb went on in the back of Law's mind.
"That's it!" His eyes widened with glee as he carried Lulu all the way to his crib.
"Can you say 'Daddy', little one?" He asked, hoping for a different response, but all the while, keeping his hopes down, knowing that Lulu was only 5 months old.
The baby remained silent with doubts in the back of his mind that wanted nothing else other than to sleep at the moment.
"Say da-" In the midst of teaching his son how to speak, Law accidentally stubbed his toe against Lulu's metal toy box and felt half of his soul flowing out of his body.
He started bouncing up and down on one leg while rubbing his injured foot as it turned red.
"DAMMIT TO HELL!" Lulu poked his little head out of his crib, standing on top of his bed.
"DAMMIT!" He proudly shouted after his father, loud enough for someone nearby to listen to.
"NO, no, that's not what I-"
"I heard that, mister!" Turning over to face Luffy who was now standing behind him, Law grew embarrassed.
"Shit..."
"Shit!" Lulu replied, setting off his father one last time.
"I whispered that! How did he manage to hear it!?" Law tumbled back, pulling at his hair while Luffy rushed into the room.
"Say 'meat' next." He stated, with a stern voice. Lulu grew quiet again, making grabby hands at Luffy who wrapped him around his arms, carrying him next to Law to sit down beside him on a mini couch they have within the nursery room.
Lulu's tummy started to growl, softly against the thin shirt he was wearing.
"...Me..meat!" Luffy bolted up from the couch, tossing Lulu into the air with tears threatening to descend from his eyes.
"THAT'S MY BOY!"
"MEAT!" Lulu repeated, chuckling at Law and Luffy brought him into a warm embrace, making him feel safe and sound, without a care in the world to worry about.
"Put him back down, he needs to rest." Law spoke, wrapping his arm around Luffy's waist while the boy carefully placed Lulu back down onto his crib.
"Yeah, and so do we." The younger yawned, raising his arms in the air to stretch.
"Tell me about it." His husband shared a short laugh with Luffy, turning the lights off in Lulu's bedroom.
He then turned on a nightlight that illuminated his bedroom to perfection: Not too bright that it would bother that baby's eyes, but not too dim to make him feel scared at night.
"Goodnight, Lu!!" Luffy pinched the baby's cheeks before exiting his room to rob Law of his favorite snacks.
"Mugiwara-ya, don't touch my food pantry again! You ate everything last-"
By the time he looked over to his left, Luffy ran by him, laughing menacingly with a large stack of food over spilling from his arms.
"You better clean that!!"
He silently chuckled to himself, hearing Luffy burst out laughing from the other room beside Lulu's.
"I gotta go make sure your father doesn't overdose on Pringles again. Goodnight, sweetheart."
Law smiled softly at his baby, placing a kiss on his forehead before leaving his bedroom.
Later on that night, as Lulu softly cuddled a white goat plush toy Usopp had bought for him, his lips parted as he looked over at a picture located on his bedside drawer of his parents and him.
"Goodnight... Dada." Were the last words he spoke before closing his eyes and drifted to sleep.
