Hello&Hi! First of all, thank you for passing by my book. Second of all, here's a notice:
The Prologue of the book contains a detailed explanation of the world settings, so it is best to not skip it. But if you find it boring you could just briefly skim through it. However the prologue also contains a story that is essential to this whole book, so it would be very appreciated if you read it :)
About the book:
This book is about stories that happen in a world called 'Alasla'. This world is inspired by ours, and you might find traces of real-life cultures in the dynasties and kingdoms :] In this book, I use the third-person point of view. However, in some parts (E.g. a dream sequence) I would switch to the first-person point of view of the MC. English is my second language, but please rest assured that I ran each chapter through several rounds of checking before publishing to ensure the perfection of your reading quality.
About the author:
I haven't got much to say about myself except I love writing and playing piano. I'm also into studying bugs and making cocktails. Now I know most people here would probably be able to do this better than me, but it's still a pleasure to let you know that I like drawing stuff, and no I'm not a drawer ( do you get the pun? ;) but here is some drawing I've done of characters in the book (will be added on as I draw more. Oh also, my name is Kitty, you would find that signature across all these works)
It's not very well but I'd still like to share them. Feel free to toss some feedback! :)

Here's some background information on complex settings within the book (you can skip this part if you want to hop straight in! 😊
1. The Stones (First appearance: Chapter Four)
- are forms of diverse natural elements left by Lasbender after he is executed. A person could absorb a Stone by wiping their blood onto the surface of the Stone and activating the absorption ritual. Here the person undergoes a trial from the Stone to prove their worthiness to its powers. If fail, the person would die. If succeeds, the person becomes the user of the Stone and would be able to harness its powers.
2. Cauchard (First appearance: Chapter Ten)
-Originated from the French word 'Cauchemar', meaning nightmare, the Cauchard is a death aura that would only appear when something had killed a certain amount of humans. This aura could be possessed by anything that meets the eligible amount of kills. Here's a clear list of the different levels of the Cauchard and their power:
Twilight- 500 deaths
When something had killed 500 people, it gains the ability to produce a sickening pressure that could heavily disrupt its opponents upon release.
Midnight- 1000 deaths
When something had killed 1000 people, it gains the ability to immediately knock out its target upon release.
Abyss- 2000 deaths
When something had killed 2000 people, it gains the ability to instantly kill its target upon release.
Hadal- 5000 deaths
When something had killed 5000 people, it gains the ability to destroy any form of life in a certain area depending on its strength. This level remains unknown and forbidden to most people. A spell cast centuries ago prevents any living being to reach this level, any living being that reached this level would die. Only non-living beings (e.g. The Stones) or ancient life forms that lived before the spell was cast may possess Cauchard at this level.
Lastly, my greatest wishes are that you enjoy the book! 😃
