The ball was organized for a Jarvan's IV wish and people close to the crown were invited to be there. Invitations were given to everyone individually, which already told Lux, holding the invitation, not many people were invited as such. When the party is BIG, invitations are made for hole families, Crownguards for Luxanne's example.
That was particulary good for her. Not that she wasn't people person. More that big organized events were to strict and often to formal, until people got properly drunk, but that also wasn't what she looked for. That's why after also talking to Fiora, her older brother friend and another person invited to the party, she got properly excited.
"So who is invited?" Lux asked Fiora
"Some people, mostly close royals, but also some people prince Jarvan picked here and there. There is Shauna, monster hunter, there is, well, me, which is already weird." Fiora stopped for a moment "Probably the reason why not many people want to be there. Ow, also, Sona will play the music and I heard that some special quests from Piltover that Jarvan met are invited. You would like to ask a question or two to someone not from Demacian Royalty, don't you?" Fiora teased Luxanne
"Whatever. It's nice to know it won't be an official bal but a party to enjoy. See you there?" Lux smiled towards Fiora
"See you there" Fiora answered with a little smile. A pleasent and rare view the fencer reserved for very few people mostly on special occassions. Lux were one of the exlusions from rule that put smile on Fiora's face without an occasion.
Lux made her way to the library, which probably is a weird choice for a teenage girl before a party. Fiora's tease had some true to itself. Lux wanted to see the world and for now, until she get's enough independence, library and books about other regions and people were the best she had. She picked a one book telling about Freljord, put it on a table next to a candle. Great lands of ice, habitet by fighting tribes of people. Lux just entered the land of imagination, with the fields of snow and numerous groups of hardened people walking from hunting to their villages, to see their families and transform hunted animals into delicious dinner. Life of hard labor and harsh weather. Lux can't say she would fit there, but she wanted to see this.
Glowing light in the candle broke her from her imaginary world. Candle wouldn't bring anyone attention, unless you didn't light it and you had to be carefull just like Lux. The moment she focused, candle was unlighted. Only slighthly melted wax told her she did it again.
Not allowing herself to lose mind as much again, Lux ended a chapter focusing of Frejlord's geography and landscapes, leaving next about for future visit. She put the book in the place on her way out and noticed a someone watching closely all the travel books, constantly picking one or the other, everyone for no longer than a minute. She stopped for a moment to give him a closer look. He definitelly didn't look like someone who visits a lot of libraries. His clothes were worn off, brown jacket, blonde, long for guy hair, googles on his head. Was he going to repair book shelfes or what?
"Hey, Lux?" Lux already turned away, ready to leave, but she looked at a boy, who knew her name for some reason. "You are Lux, yeah, I know that. I am am Ezreal."
"Excuse me, do I know you?" Lux voiced her question, as she had no idea why this boy would try to talk to her.
"I just, akhem... I'm Ezreal. I know you, I mean heard about you in some places as one of royal guards of Demacia and I saw you put this travel guide and figured maybe I would tell you something about it? I traveled a lot." He finished with a forced grin on his face.
Luxanna, a bit taken off, didn't really had an answer for him. "I don't have time" She just murmured. "Maybe other time" She tried to give him a smile, but wasn't sure if it didn't come off as fake. She left the library and went towards her living place in the Demacian Capitol. Overall, she wanted to get ready for a party. Maybe if she didn't have any plans for evening she would pay more attention to the mysterious guy in library.
Right after she closed a door, someone knocked. Lux, confused beyond believ, turned back and opened the door to see the boy, Ezreal, right in front of her with a shy smile. "You forgot your candle" He said, pointing at the candle in his hand she had at her reading station.
"I didn't bring her with myself." She answered "It was already there."
"Ow, really? I always bring my own light if I want to read in library." Ezreal commented
Lux had her eyes wide open, trying to guess what the guy had in mind. He didn't seem stupid, but for some reason he seemed troubled, while from time to time he posed as much more confident than he should. This time Lux properly observed the guy. Tall, straight posture, skinny, blue eyes, tanned skin. He had some weird blue marks on his cheek.
"You don't look like someone who spends time in libraries" Lux said, pulling her head to the side.
"Not much, I prefer to see the world instead of reading about it" He said.
"Anyway" Lux cut him off "Apreciate the though, but I am readying myself for something and I don't have time for chat." She gave him a polite smile "It was nice to meet you Ezreal, maybe see you around somewhere."
"At the Jarvan's party" He quickly put "I presume you are invited."
"Ow, you too?" Lux got curious at how a guy that seems like taken just out of samwill got an invitation "Well, see you there" She said, waved to him and slowly closed the door, even tho she saw he wanted to say something. Ezreal seemed nice and was quite handsome guy, but she just wasn't in mood to make new friends for now.
Not really paying attention anymore to what's going on outside, Luxanne started to prepare herself. It didn't took long before she was ready so for the rest of time she moved a chair, creating as much space as she could in a castle room like hers. Chair under the desk filled with papers, some for messages, some for drawings. A wardrobe consisting of dressess and costiumes, half of them not really fitting for Lux, bed that would fit four people if needed with rich curtains.
All that went aside when Lux focused. She placed her hands on top of eachother, moved them away and imagined the glow beneath between them. Demacia wasn't friendly towards magicians and magical beings. It was build on the history of arcane wars, funded by people as a place without magic build on white stone that should stop magic from growing. Yet one time, when met with a threat, Lux smited few people with uncotrolled blast of Sparking Light.
It terrified her, Lux tried to hide it and never think about it, to forget. But her curiosity and light constantly growing out of control brought her to the library (Luxanne likes reading, what more to say) and she read few things about arcane wars. And she met someone who told her a thing or two. One thing she learned was that some people died because they didn't control their powers. And because Lux saw from time to time, when she lost focus and didn't care about enviroment, that sometimes glows would appear around her and burn this or melt that. That's why Lux tried to learn how to at least control it.
Supposedly antimagic stone didn't block her light this time either. The glow between her hands was just like she imagined, white with rainbowy glow to it, forming the ball at the center. Lux moved her hands around, bringing created spark higher and lower according to her thought. After a few times she practiced it, Lux got so used to directing her spark as she was used to moving her hands. Even tried to close her eyes and move it without looking. Worked out. Spark was higher as she wanted it to be. Lux enjoyed playing with her light until she heard knocking. She quickly made it disappear and moved towards doors, until she realised, knocking came from her balcony.
