CHAPTER 26

This is the day of our exam....

Habang naglalakad ako sa corridors ay madaming studyante na todo na nagbabasa sa kanilang notes at books. May mga iba din na nag-memorize sa mga papers nila.

I pursed my lips, because I can feel the nervousness surrounding me. Nawala na ang kaba na nararamdaman ko kanina dahil nakampante na ako sa mga natutunan ko pero dahil sa mga nakikita ko ay parang bumabalik na ulit ang kaba.

What if babagsak ako?

What if hindi ako gra-graduate dahil dito?

What if ikanahiya ako ng family ko dahil bigla ako bumagsak?

Napatawa ako sa iniisip ko. I know my family would never belittle me if I fail the exam. Kahit kailan ay hindi mataas ang expectations nila sa akin. They don't pressure me on anything, but even so, it didn't stop me from feeling pressured. As the only heiress left to take over the Bernard business and possibly the Smith, my dad never commented about that, but still... I'm the only one left. Seeing how my brothers are living their life right now, I bear the weight of what extraordinary would I enfold to my family.

I sighed.

"Ano?hindi ka papasok?"I was awoken by my thoughts and realized that I was already at the door of my classroom. Tumingin ako sa likod ko at nakita si Carter na nakangiti sa akin na naghihintay na papasok ako."Okay ka lang?"alaala niyang tanong.

Ngumiti ako at tumango."Oo naman. Kinabahan lang."I said and nervously laughed.

He bumped me in the shoulders and said."Kaya mo iyan. Ikaw pa!"Napangiti ako sa sinabi niya.

Pumasok na siya sa loob at sumunod ako sa kanya. As I was sitting at my chair, I saw Amber silently studying, Natasha, reading her notes calmly but I can see her hands are shaking, while Sapphire was looking up while memorizing her notes.

I sighed and opened my notes and started reading again. I saw Jace in my peripheral vision coming into the room and sitting at the chair beside me that is now five inches at a distance.

I suddenly drop my book on the floor and shakily grab it. Jace saw it and his brows furrowed. He grabbed the book that I had dropped and gave it to me. Tumango lang ako sa kanya as a sign of thank you and continued reading my book. I don't have the strength to fight him anymore.

Then I notice him grabbing a sticky note from his notes and writing something. He even hide what he wrote on the paper. I scoffed. As if naman titingin ako. Baka notes lang iyan. Bakit ko ba binibig deal ang bagay na iyan?

I tried to regain my focus on studying when I noticed that Jace reach out his hand and put something on my desk. My brows furrowed and I took a glimpse of what he put and my eyes widen from what he wrote on the sticky note.

I know you would do well, Jewel. You have studied very hard for this exam and I know you will aced it. There's nothing to be nervous about.

Hindi ko mapigilan mapangiti sa ginawa niya. I took a glimpse of him sitting beside me and he's now occupied on reading his book like he didn't just put something remarkable on my desk. I felt something inside me flutter and a calming manner surrounded me like a hug from someone. It's very reassuring. I couldn't stop myself from smiling now.

How considerate of him.

I stop myself from laughing.

Then the professor entered the room carrying our exam and greeted us. I can feel the nervousness around the room and somehow I was not engulfed by it, instead I felt confident and calm. Na para bang alam ko na kaya kong pasarin ang exam na ito.
