Chapter 3

Maddie POV

Ugh! Yesterday we worked on the group dance, it's pretty boring. All Abby really worked on was Sophia, she didn't say one word to me.

Melissa: Maddie! Come down its time for school!

I come down, all dressed. This morning I woke up early to practice the group.

Maddie: Mom, can I go to the studios in the mornings?

Melissa: Don't you go enough?

Maddie: Please! I need more practice!

Melissa: Ok, I'll call Abby. In the meantime eat your breakfast.

Melissa POV

I'm starting to worry. I admire Maddie's determination, but this 'Sophia's the new favorite' is really getting to her. I guess if she really wants her spot back who am I to stop her?

*on the phone*

Abby: Hello?

Melissa: Hi Abby-

Abby: No! Maddie is NOT getting a solo!

Melissa: Actually I was just going to ask-

Abby: Get over it!

Melissa: If we could come to the studios in the mornings.

Abby: Oh, well in that case.... Yes. She can have privates with Gianna from 5-7:45am on... Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Melissa: Uh, wow. That's a lot, are you sure it isn't to much?

Abby: Does she want to dance more?

Melissa: Yes.

Abby: Then, no. No it's not. I expect her there tomorrow (Wednesday).

*end of call*

Abby POV

Wow. That surprised me, I know Maddie wants her spot back, but the is a whole different level. Right now Maddie realizes that you can't always be on top, I'm not being mean (well maybe a bit), but I think this is a good experience for her. Unfortunately for her, she can never beat Sophia. If she wants to try though, be my guest!

Maddie POV

I anxiously eat my cereal while my Mom is on the phone in the other room.

Melissa: Maddie! Great news!

Maddie: I can go!?

Melissa: You have a private with Gianna 5-7:45am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays!

YAY!!!! This is unbelievable!!

Melissa: You start tomorrow. Now hurry! The bus is here!!

I run out the door to the bus, could this day get any better? Then I remember, school starts at 8am, and I get on the bus at 7:30. Now I can't ride the bus any day but Thursday. Chloe is going to me mad, we ride the bus together everyday.

Chloe POV

I am excited as the bus pulls up to Maddie's house. The bus is one of my favorite parts of the day.

Chloe: Hi Mads! [Maddie is sitting down next to Chloe]

Maddie: Hey Chlo...

Chloe: Are you okay? You have been acting weird lately.

Maddie: I'm only going to ride the bus on Thursdays from now on.

Chloe: Wait, Why!?

Maddie: I'm going to have privates with Gianna in the mornings.

Chloe: What!?

I know Maddie isn't the favorite anymore, but this is a bit extreme.

Chloe: All you think about is dance!

Oops... Maybe I shouldn't have said that.

Maddie: Well I want to be the BEST!

Chloe: Then you're NOT doing a very good job!

What am I DOING!?!? Maddie looks at me, tears in her eyes. She then gets up and moves. What was that? We never fight. I start to cry, but when I look up.

Jess: Oh look. Poor baby Chloe is crying. *starts to laugh*

Great. Jess. Jess is the school "Mean Girl." Her and her little friends, I mean slaves bully me. It started last year in 6th grade. They never bother me when Maddie is around though. Last year, they tried to do it when Maddie was around. Maddie laughed and then slapped her, she then said "There is more where that came from." She tried to get back at Maddie, but it never worked. Where is Maddie when I need her.

Jess: Did you have a fight with Maddie? Ha. She can't protect you now.

El [slave #1]: Did you wash your face in puke, or is it naturally ugly?

Taylor [slave #2]: *dumps iced coffee on my head* Oops, actually it looks better that way.

I see Maddie walking up the aisle. Yes!

Maddie: Wow Taylor, Starbucks? Just when I thought you couldn't be more of a basic bitch. Also Jess we did fight, but *looks at Jess's face and laughs* I'm sorry I can't take you seriously with clown makeup on. Halloween was a while ago, take the damn costume off.

El: Uh Excuse me but-

Maddie: You're excused.

Jess: You know, this isn't over!

Maddie: I think it is. *sticks up middle finger* Sorry that was rude, I should go. Wait, actually you should go. Bye bye!

*They leave and Maddie sits down next to me*

Maddie POV

How dare they!? I know Jess was mean to Chloe in the past, but I thought she stopped.

Maddie: How often do they do that?

Chloe: Whenever you aren't around.

Maddie: Oh Jess you picked the wrong target.

Chloe: Listen, I'm sorry about the fight.

Maddie: It's okay, but I really need to do this [go to dance in the mornings]

Chloe: Okay, but just do one thing.

Maddie: Sure, what?

Chloe: Beat Sophia.

Maddie: I think I can manage that.

At least, I hope I can.
