Frenemies (Chapter Eleven)

(Still in Jarahn's Mind Palace)

Every single piece of evidence, clues, and intel I've received from this problem floated around me. I grab the folder titled "Isaac" and read it over.

"His powers were acquired by the serum which led to his death. It wasn't the explosion, it was the drug. The drug that I still have the chem notes for. I assumed it was the explosion because we already lost all of the drug, but Isaac managed to get one of the serums before we shut them down." I shut the folder. "Do you think he would've gotten more than one? Maybe all of the maniacs have taken the drug?" I asked Ms. Hudgens.

"That cannot be the case. All of the maniacs should've died as well."

"Well, we haven't checked on them, so I'll make sure to pay them a visit." I let go of the folder and it vanished. I grab the other folder titled; "Maniacs" and look over it.

"Could be possible though. Don't you think so?"

"Nah, I think you're right..." I flipped through the pages. "Maniacs have been able to keep up and fight for a while. I think they're the super stragglers from 12 gang.."

"But didn't we get the 12 gang? We watch them be arrested."

"True, but Neil said that.." I stopped my sentence to check through the other folder titled; Leader?. "He took a photo of the list that showed all of the inmates. We should have Neil double-check those records. See if everyone is still where he left them.."

"Do one thing at a time, Jarahn." My dad said. I shot my head towards the left and found my dad with his arms crossed. "Don't focus on the maniac and the leader at the same time. You were never good at multitasking."

"That's not true. I'm pretty good." I argued. My dad tilted his head. "Okay, I'm not so good."

"Focus on the maniacs and then move to the leader."

"Okay. The maniacs aren't skilled fighters, but they know how to use their abilities very well. The maniacs that were defeated were the weakest of the bunch. Right now, there are six with the leader and then there are six inside of the hospital. We have six maniacs to deal with and then we also have to deal with the leader. We don't know which powers the other six have, and we don't even know if the leader has powers, so we'll have to figure that out."

"We'll get more information from the interrogation. Now, onto the leader." My dad said. The maniacs vanished and a dark blurry figure stood before me. "You know who it is. You know." My eyes began to water.

"But why..."

"The system wronged him."

"But he killed him...why continue to wreak havoc? Why continue to cause chaos after doing what you wanted to do?"

"Maybe he doesn't see it that way."

"They never see it that way, dad. Never."

"Help him see it that way.."

(Back into reality.)

"Jason..." I whispered.

"Huh?" Neil asked.

"What do you know, Jarahn? What do you know?" Jaden asked.

"I have to go.." My suit returned to my watch and I headed for the door.

"Wait! What is it? Are you gonna tell us?" Lakota asked. I exited the door with my eyes trained on the pavement as headed down the street.

"Babe!" Karen shouted. I turn around and she hurries toward me. "Talk to me...what is it?" I turn to her and wipe my mouth anxiously.
