Eye of the Tiger

The air was heavy with all the apprehension I felt for today. I could feel the knots in my stomach before even opening my eyes. The sky was still dark, signaling that dawn had not yet come. This gave me plenty of time to spend a few hours running before Anastasia came to drag me to school.

I wasn't sure why I was so nervous. The first day was meant to be the worse, not the second. But then I remembered that I didn't know I was starting school yesterday. Yesterday I was oblivious to what my day would entail.

While on my morning run, I decided I needed to hype myself up for the day. Immediately, "The Eye of the Tiger" was the first song that popped into my mind. I must have hit my low point if my theme song of the day revolved around tigers while I was in wolf form. I rolled my eyes at my cheesiness but continued to sing regardless.

My sprint turned into a prance as I howled out the lyrics, knowing I was the only one who could understand.

My wolf form swayed side to side, not even attempting to run anymore. If anyone saw me, they probably would think I was drunk. I didn't let that stop my one-woman musical. By the time my offkey singing finished, I was at the lake.

When I arrived at the lake, it lay perfectly still and undisturbed. The sky was brightening, meaning my bath would have to be cut short. I stayed in wolf form to wash up; it made the process much easier and faster. When I left the crystal-colored water, I felt a bit empty, knowing I couldn't spend my time floating on the peaceful water. The best part about washing in wolf form was the drying-off part. All it took was shaking off the water droplets a few times to make me perfectly blown dry.

As soon as I started my drying process, Shake it Off by Taylor Swift began to play on repeat in my head. So I gave in to the music for the second time today.

Woah.

I trotted back to my tree as I howled the lyrics. I stopped shaking for a moment as dizziness took over. Guess I should try and maybe not whip my head off my shoulders while I dried myself.

Today would be a long day if I couldn't stop getting these songs stuck in my head.

When I arrived back at my home, I rushed to get ready. Luckily, Ana gave me extra uniforms yesterday, so I didn't have to rewear the last one.

The clothes looked the same as the day before, except for the skirt. This skirt seemed to be impossibly short, much shorter than the one I wore yesterday.

Anastasia, I growled. I knew it was her messing with me, she always wanted to give me a makeover, and it seems she's using this as her chance.

Just like the devil, she appeared as I cursed her name. Ana's smile was one of pure excitement. Whatever had vexed her the evening before was gone, and she now resembled a child on Christmas morning.

"Okay, it's time for day two!" The blond squealed at me. "But first put this on." She thrust a small, slender bottle into my hands.

The label read VOLUMIZING MASCARA.

"Uh uh. Nope. You got the wrong wolf today." I yelped out.

Horror clouded my features as I watched Ana laugh while grabbing the mascara bottle back. She opened it slowly, and then a roach jumped on me as fast as a roach.

I could have avoided it, but I sometimes liked to indulge my friend. Mascara wasn't the worst thing in the world.

She giggled as she swept upwards on my eyelashes with the applicator wand. She got off of me when she decided my eyes were coated with enough goop.
