It Will End In Tears

Testimony

I'm sitting in the courtroom by myself. Remus my guardian was on the stand being questioned.

"Please state your name," Said the judge.

"Remus Lupin" My godfather replied.

They questioned and pestered Remus until he got off the stand. He walked back to me as my leg shook knowing I had to testify next. I have to testify for a man that I don't even know. He's been in Azkaban for fourteen years. For all those fourteen years I haven't heard a word from that man. No letter, no call, nothing. How am I supposed to be on this man's side when he hasn't been there for me. He wasn't there when I took my first steps. He wasn't there when I started Hogwarts. He wasn't there to see me perform my first spell. He wasn't there for anything, Remus was. I just have to lie. Lying to a judge, I know, fucked up. It's the only thing I can do. Remus walked back to me, seeing that I was nervous.

"You're going to do great hun," Remus told me.

"Sure," I said, with a bitchy tone.

I shouldn't be treating the only adult in my life like that. The nerves are getting the best of me. I feel like I could puke. As I walked up to the stand I straightened my skirt and spun my rings. I stood in front of the judge.

"Please state your name," The judge said the same words to me as he did Remus.

"Rowan Black," I said back with a straight face.

"Relation to the accused?" The judge asked.

"Father" I replied

"You're testimony please" The judge stated.

I let out a shaky breath as I pulled out the folded paper out of my pocket.

"My father hasn't been a big part of my life. I would consider Remus to be my father before I would consider Sirius to be. Remus was there for me through everything. I started school, performing my first spell, my first breakup, and my first time being bullied for who my father was. To be honest the reputation that my father has created for himself has been passed on to me. Many people at my school have strayed away from me. Stayed clear from me like I was some kind of disease they'd catch if they got too close. My entire life I've felt alone. I have few friends and my cousin is my closest friend. Now I could sit here and say that I miss my father, but I don't. I never knew him. He was gone before I could get to know him. The only thing I've heard about him were stories that Remus has told me. He would tell me about how close Him and Sirius were. He would tell me about the entire group, including Lilly and James potter. About how they would run around Hogwarts doing things they shouldn't. How Sirius would plan pranks to pull on my now professors. They were the closest group in the world. When Lilly and James were murdered it rocked their world. And when Sirius was accused of the murders it rocked Remus' world. At that point, Sirius was the only person he had left. Even though I was young I heard stories growing up. Sirius getting taken away put Remus in the worst mental state. I never knew him but my godfather did. I wouldn't sit here and say that I wished he was in my life, but I do wish Remus had him back. I feel like Remus would be ten times happier than he is right now. I don't know my father. But I do know that he would never murder his best friends in cold blood. I know that it was Voldemort."

The entire room gasped like saying his name would summon him.

"How dare you?" A lady in an entirely pink outfit said in a rude tone.

"With all due respect ma'am, I'm not scared to say his name. He's not gonna show up right in front of me. So if I could continue without any interruptions I'd gladly appreciate it." I told the women in pink with a slight smile.

"My father was Remus' rock. I'd be lying if I told you that I didn't want to get to know him. So if you have any sympathy left I hope you all can realize that not only do I need him but my godfather needs him. I would like to meet my father before I'm old and decrepit." I finished my testimony and stepped off the stand. I walked back to my godfather who was smiling at me with tears in his eyes. He stood up and we began to walk out as the judge says "Bring out the accused"
