Summary: Hosing from the sky, heavy rain clouds over all of Hamlyn Village. For (Y/n) it's just yet another ordinary day.

Even with the warmth of candlelight near you, you can't help but shiver at the sight of heavy rain falling outside.
Watching from the counter of your bookstore, the dark sky hasn't left any ray of sunshine slip through today.
Despite rain being rather unpleasant to people, nature could use it well. You can only hope that the rain would clear up once you close at 4 o'clock, but from the looks of it, that might not be the case...
You let out a heavy sigh, the breeze of your breath causing the flame of the candle to flicker and dance. Your own thoughts trying to trap you in a daydream, you need to stay clear-headed in case some customer enters the store. You haven't had any customers yet today, and it's almost 3 o'clock. You fear that you won't have any customers today...
No one seems to be interested in books anymore, which makes you sad since there is so much to learn from written papers.

The feeling of sadness is ruining your cosy mood already.
You don't want to take Joy, it makes you see eyes everywhere. Staring... Staring with such judgement, only makes you wish you could remember what you did wrong in your life. You will remember soon... as you continue to avoid Joy like the plague, forgotten snippets of your past are returning. Some pleasant and some worse.
Bad or not, you don't want to forget any of the old memories you've obtained again.

You lean forward, elbow resting on the old ebony counter. With your chin in your hand, close your eyes and let the train of thought take off for just a moment.

The light twitter of birds excites you, letting go of your mother's hand you rush over to start to play on the playground equipment in the park. "Stay in my sight (Y/n)!" Your mother calls after you while she sits on one of the park benches. You didn't answer, already busy playing in the sandbox.
Another kid is in the sandbox as well.
A young boy with dark brown hair, and green eyes and his face is sprinkled full of freckles. You wave at the boy, who shyly waves back.
"want to play?" You ask, already digging your fingers into the sand. The boy studies you for a moment, then nods excitedly and joins in your game.

You've had so much fun with this strange boy, that you completely forgot the time. Until your mother calls you over. "Time to go (Y/n)! Dad has supper ready!" She calls out to you.
You perk up and turn to the boy you have been playing with, "Mum is calling me. I have to go now, sorry. Bye Bye!" You wave the boy goodbye, he returns the gesture before an older boy calls him over as well.

You waddle over to your mother and take hold of her hand as she guides you back home. "Who were you playing with, darling?" she asks while looking down at you with fondness in her eyes. "I dunno." You answer casually.

"I never got his name."

You're snapped back to reality by a flash of lighting outside. You don't remember ever playing with a brown-haired boy when you were little, how did you even remember a memory from so long ago. You usually struggle remembering childhood memories now that you're in your thirties.
You groan out in exhaustion, raking a hand through your hair. Taking a glance at the clock on the wall, it's about time you clean up the shop for the day.

Just after sweeping the whole floor, you gather your personal belongings, raising the collar of your coat before turning all the lights off and going outside. You make sure to lock the door behind you, you wish you had brought an umbrella in the morning when the heavens weren't crying too inconsolably.

You grunt in discomfort as you step out into the street, rain already soaking your hair and coat.
You start to speed walk to your goal: home.

Every once in a while you take a step in a puddle of rainwater, soaking your shoes and socks... brilliant...
It's hard to see with all the racing droplets, very disorienting as you try to make your way home quickly.
For a moment, you attempt to shield your eyes from the rain, blinking rapidly to get the water out of your eyes.
While your vision is obscured, and not looking where you're walking. It was only a matter of time for you to bump into something... or rather, someone.
you collapse, into something with a thud. You quickly step back and whoever you bumped into also staggers back.
"oof." the voice of a man huff out at the collapse. You wipe your eyes and look at whoever you walked into so clumsily. Before you stands a man, more specifically a policeman, a bobby.
You quickly straighten up upon seeing a Constable standing right in front of you.
"Sorry, I'm so sorry. I'm trying to get home and out of the rain." You quickly explain your reason for walking fast.
The bobby before doesn't seem bothered at all, and merely offers a friendly grin and a tip of the hat. "No worries. Get home safe, ma'am." He says and walks past you to resume his patrolling. You feel glad not to be warned about walking fast and you continue your own journey back home.

You arrive at your home, dusting your shoes on the doormat while your coat drips rainwater everywhere. It's better to take a shower before you'll catch a cold.

After a refreshing shower, You take the time to reflect on your day whilst cooking supper for yourself. It's the moments when you cook when you feel the most lonely. You've been off Joy for a good one and a half years, everyone else in the village is barely there compared to how you feel.
You just got over the brewing sadness Joy suppressed, you found purpose in hobbies and pretending. Those damn spankers outside keep some places restricted to you, but luckily you can still get your errands and some supplies, from what little there remains in Wellington Wells. Being more aware of your surroundings, you know that food supplies are running short here.
Not to mention that this place is just not safe for you.

It won't take long until someone finds you out, but until that day you'll do everything to survive. And then find a what to get out of Wellington Wells and start anew somewhere else.

The rain has stopped by now, although the sky is still dark and getting darker as the evening creeps up into the heavens once again.
The darkening skies make you wonder what events fate has in store for you tomorrow.

You can do nothing but wonder, still, you pray that fate is going easy on you this time...
