"Hippo! Hippo!" Steven exclaimed, seeing Taweret bow down to fit through the doors.

"Oh, man!" Marc breathed out, "Wow, these meds are really amazing," he ran a hand down his face, bewildered.

"Oh my god!" you placed a hand over your chest, being startled by the screams of both the men, "You idiots!" you swatted both of their arms sharply.

"Is he always so intense?" Taweret asked you, referring to Marc.

"Who, him?" Steven nodded towards Marc, "Yeah, pretty much,"

"So, are you two, like, twins?"

"No," Marc shook his head, rubbing the spot where you had hit him.

"Well, yes, sort of," Steven replied making his so-called twin give him a short glare.

"Okay, great," Taweret nodded happily, "That's really cleared this whole situation up for me,"

"That makes two of us," Marc chimed, "Just a second ago, I thought I'd been shot to death,"

"Oh, gosh!" the goddess clamored lowly, "This will really bake your noodle, but I think you were just taking a little time-out," she paused awkwardly, "I'm afraid you're actually quite dead.  You too," she added, pointing to you.

Marc's eyes widened, "I'm sorry, what?"

"But—" Steven stumbled for words.

"I'm dead? We're dead?" you repeated over and over again, not being able to believe it.

"Yes. Yes, Marc, Y/N. I think she's right," Steven nodded, "I think we died,"

The goddess went to seize something out of her armor, "I actually—I have— Hold on a sec," She gestured to wait and grabs a scroll, "It's been a minute since we've had a soul pass through here. Bit distracted—Excuse me," She stumbled with opening the scroll and finally got it open after pulling the string off, "A-ha! Okay, here we go," she took a deep breath, "Welcome, gentle traveler— Travellers — to the realm of the Duat,"

"Duat?" you knew that word, "The Egyptian underworld ?"

Steven nodded in excitement, "This is Taweret, goddess of women and children—"

Taweret did a little curtsy.

"Uh-huh," Marc made a sound of listening.

"—and she's guiding us through our journey to the afterlife. Wow,"  Steven gasped in awe, sharing a bright smile with you.

"Okay. Right," Marc grumbled and looked around the white hallways, "So, this is the afterlife?" He walked past the goddess and continued to the other hallway, gesturing with his arms in the air, "The afterlife?"

"An afterlife," the goddess corrected him, "Not the afterlife. You'd be surprised how many intersectional planes of untethered consciousness exist,"

"Yeah,"
