AN: Ik that Aussie and American holidays are at different times but for the sake of this book they are the same. Also this book starts around a couple weeks before season three starts and will go into season 3 as well. Also the time-line might be a bit messed up.

So this is what my life is like, my parents have sent me to America for a change while they go on their stupid business trips. I have to spend my holidays in a small town called Hawkins or something, there is probably nothing to do there. I was never close with my family I felt like I could only talk to the few friends I had, I guess that's why they can easily send me to America and not worry. My dad moved to Australia when he was 22 and met my mum, but his family still lived in America, Hawkins indiana to be exact. I had only been there once when I was like 6 or something, every other time the Harringtons had come to Australia. Because of my parents  frequent business trips  I got of school a couple weeks early so I could get to America and wouldn't be home alone. My uncle had made sure I could go to the middle school for a while so I had something to do,  I would rather just stay home and watch TV but of course that wouldn't happen.

It feels like I have been on this plane for days. I am SO bored! When I finally land I have to search for my Aunt Vickie. I spotted her waving at me shouting out my name 😳 this was so embarrassing. I hurried over to her so she could shut up.  After an awkward car ride back I stepped out of the car and got my first look at Hawkins, it was kind of pretty...

"Emma! Welcome to Hawkins"

"Hi Uncle Mick" I waved

I looked over at there house in awe. It was much bigger than my house back in Australia. I saw something move around in the corner of my eye so I looked over to the side of the house and saw a kid wearing a yellow cap and orange t-shirt scramble on to his bike and ride away. I shook it off and walked into the Harringtons. I ran up the stairs and crashed straight into my cousin- Steve Harrington. I jumped back and apologised

"Oh sorry..um hi?" I stumbled over my words

"Uhhh hi Emma, long time no see, remember me haha" he awkwardly laughed

"um yeah... I remember what a dick you were" I said and immediately regretted it.

"Oh wow um yeah I remember that to" He said while looking at his feet

"But, i've changed.. alot since the last time I saw you I promise, I..I have way better friends now and I have a job and-"

"Yeah yeah I get it" I said

I had never liked my cousin that much, I had always preferred my cousins in Australia. He was just such a dick and one of those popular kids, which I was the opposite of, but something was different when I saw him this time, maybe it was his hair? No it was definitely something more than that.

So my first day was just as I had expected- bad. I had done nothing but unpacked my bags and eaten some gross dinner. All I wanted was to go back home, sleep in my own house and see my friends over the holidays, not hang out with Steve the whole time- although I don't think he would let me.
