We ran for 15 minutes until we reached the clinic. I made the girl stay outside with her brother, so I didn't have to look after them. When I got inside, I saw nothing but boarded-up doors and windows. I walked to the closest room and tried to knock down its entrance, but I wasn't strong enough. Then I felt a presence creep up behind me, and I felt something hit my head.
"What do you want, and why are you here?"
The person said as they cleared their throat.
I put my hands up and turned around. I saw a man with an unkempt-looking beard standing directly in front of me, holding a gun in my face. He seemed so familiar to me, but I didn't know why. I whispered,
"All I need is a few supplies."
He looked me up and down and asked,
"What type of supplies?"
When he spoke, he got closer to my face. His breath reeked of beer.
I tried to turn my head away from him, but he grabbed my cheeks and made me keep my eyes on him. I took a deep breath and said,
"There is a very injured kid out there, and I need something to stitch his leg up with."
He crossed his arms and said,
"What's in it for me?"
That's when I realized how I knew him. I smiled and walked closer to him and said,
"Whatever you want."
He dropped the gun and stepped closer to me, but I head-butted him and made him fall. I grabbed the gun with my foot, shot the door down, and ran into the room. When I got inside, I opened all of the drawers until I got to the one with the needed supplies. There, the needle and thread sat in the second to last drawer. I grabbed it and tried to run back out, but the man was standing outside the door waiting for me.
"You're not going anywhere,"
He shouted,
He swiftly turned me around and started choking me. My face turned a dark shade of purple.
"Let me go, let me go,"
I said, but my voice and breathing were muffled. He continued to choke me. I could feel my body becoming limp, but I remembered I had found that gun. I slowly but swiftly reached for it, it was in my back pocket. I pulled it out, and I shot him, but I only managed to shoot him in the foot. He let me go screaming in agony, falling to the ground.Coughing, trying to catch my breath.
"You might not remember me, but I do remember you,"
I said to him with the glare of a sinister look on my face
And I ran out of the clinic
when I got outside, I whispered,
We need to go now.
" Zara grabbed her brother around the waist, and I grabbed the other side of him, and we ran as fast as we could, not looking back. When we got far enough away from the clinic, we stopped to catch our breath.
"What happened back there?".
The girl asked as she grabbed the gun from me.
I did not respond to her. Instead, I looked at the boy and said,
"I am going to unwrap your leg now."
We sat the boy on the ground, and I got in front of him and uncovered his leg. It was still bleeding. I could feel the worried look grow across my face. I was so concerned about it getting affected, so I poured the rest of the alcohol into his wound and wiped the dried blood off. Then I slowly stitched his leg up. All the boy did was twitch. He was so drained that he barely could move.
