shay waved goodbye to johnathan who was waiting for her to walk in her front door, just being cautious

she entered the house and it was completely dark, she almost coudnt see anything at all

as she headed upstairs to her room heared the faint crys and sniffles, as if they didnt want anyone to hear them coming from the room beside her

she opened steves beedroom dorr to see him face down on his bed, still in his “halloween costume” from earlier that she made fun of him for

“so no one liked your costume?” she asked him pretending she didnt already know the reason he was crying

steve shot up from his bed and franticlly started wiping the tears off his face

“i thought you were going to have a sleepover at the wheelers after?” he said

“yeah but then will had a episode, will and mike left so we all just went home” she told him

“did your new little friend come with you?” he asked trying to avoid the topic of him crying

“yeah she did” shay smiled

“so did you have fun?” steve asked trying to make her talk untill she got tired

“yeah but will had a episode which was scary but me, max, lucas and dustin had fun.. Wait, why were you crying?” she finally asked causing steve to graon loudly and fall back into his pillow

shay who rarley sees her brother cry had no idea how to act in the moment, so she tried to remeber what her brother did when she cried

"so what happened?” she asked calmly hoping for a awnser

“nancy... Bullshit…” she heard him mumble into this pillow

“what.”

she suudenly shot up again causing her to almost suble off of her feet

steve placed himself in a sitting position and shay sat at the end of his bed

“nancy said our entire relaionship was bullshit” her older brother said looking down

“why would she say that?” shay asked confused, nancy and steve were the most inlove couple  she had ever met and she couldnt imagine nancy ever saying that

“because everything from last year, barb going missing, all that bullshit. Im happy she finally said it bc she said she was waiting to say it, she drank alot thought but” 

“drunk words are sober thoughts” they said in unison

“do you still love her” shay asked him

“yeah, i still do and i probably alwyas will but sometimes realtionships just dont work out, go to bed kid” he said to shay

she grabbed her candy and costume off steves floor and went to her room letting steve have some alone time

“Hey shay you there?” she heard somone saying on her walkie talkie as she entered her room

“Yeah im here” she said back to them picking up the walkie talkie off her bed

“Its mike, you told me to radio you when will got to my house and he just left” mike told her

“is he okay?” she asked milke hopefully

“yeah hes okay, he was a bit shaken up ntill we talked about it, after that he seemed fine and had some fun” mike explained, causing the weight to lift on shays chest

“im happy hes okay, this episode seemed really bad” she said remebering the events of that night

“its weird, he said its like hes in hawkins but hes not, like the upside down but hes still physiclly here” mike recalled
