"Oh my god!"
"Is that.."
"Rolf?"

Fourteen-year-old Rolf strutted down the high-school hallways as he ran a hand through his shoulder-length shaggy blonde hair. He had one muscular arm around his girlfriend Daniella, and the other was waving at all the girls that had lined up on each side of the hallway, swooning and fangirling over him.

Meanwhile, Frederick, the third wheel of the group, walked behind the two. He adjusted his messy dark-brown hair, trying not to draw any attention to him. He glanced at Daniella and couldn't help but smile noticing how happy she looked. She caught his eye and smiled back. He had always secretly loved her, but she didn't feel the same.

She was absolutely stunning, with her soft light brown skin and curly dark brown hair that cascaded like a waterfall behind her back. She had striking green eyes and a piercing gaze. Maybe that's the reason why the most popular kid at school decided to date her, he thought.

Frederick loved food and wanted to become a chef himself. His mother owned her own restaurant chain while his father worked as the head chef at an Italian restaurant. Ever since he was a kid, he learned how to cook and ever since then, he made meals for himself.

Meanwhile, Daniella wanted to be an actress, and she could easily become one, based on her looks. Her father worked as an engineer, while her mother worked in an office cubicle doing who knows what. She didn't want to become like them, not a chance. She had already modeled for some online ads and magazines, and her name was pretty well known. Daniella Rodriguez.

He didn't even know what Rolf wanted to be, he never really talked about his future career that much. All he knew was that he loved music, and even owned a guitar that he got a few years back for his birthday. He left the guitar untouched and mounted on his bedroom wall for decoration purposes.

Daniella sometimes visited Frederick if she wasn't on some date with Rolf or hanging out with him. He remembered how the night before their first date she had come into his house bawling about how she wasn't good enough and skinny enough and pretty enough for him. She burst into a fit of tears as she vented to Frederick about how she hated her outfit and her hair and her eyes and everything about her.

Frederick had consoled her, telling her that she was beautiful, and Rolf would love her, and her outfit was stunning, don't worry. He ended with a big tight hug, and Daniella wiped the tears from her eyes, whispered, "Thank you," and left, leaving Frederick sitting on his bed, all alone.
