Road Trip

Carmelo's POV

I sigh softly taking my tie off and takes a sip of my drink as I sat at the bar. Your probably wondering what happened, well my ex fiancé left me , during our wedding to be with her stupid ex boyfriend Axel. After a while I look up to see a girl with tan skin and brunette hair getting harassed I get up and heads over.

" Hey man leave the lady alone." I look at the asshat as he waves his hand I look at the young lady who looked a year younger than me as she looks uncomfortable trying to get away from him." HEY. Leave her alone." I grab his shoulder trying to pull him away from her then he swings trying to punch me in the face but I dodge it then flips him on a table breaking it.

" DAM IT CARMELO. I just got that table." Sean says with his thick Irish accent then sighs as he wiped the bar down." Just put it on my tab okay." He nods as I look at the lady." Are you okay ma'am?" I look at her as she nods as I gently take her hand." Why don't you join me ?" She nods a bit blushing as we go and sit at the bar.

" I'm Carmelo." She smiles and gently shakes my hand." I'm Ruby. Sorry but you look like you should be at a wedding." She giggles a bit as I look at her." Yeah it was my wedding, my wife to be left me for her ex boyfriend." I sigh a bit and takes another shot of whiskey.

" Well she's a bitch. You seem like a nice guy. Also thanks for saving me." She smiles and pecks a small kiss on my cheek Sean just looks at me and smirks." So I'm going on a road trip want to join? I know your a stranger but hey I won't be wasting my money on a vacation by myself.."

Ruby smiles a bit and giggles." Well I am trying to leave behind my old life , so why not. I'm at the hotel across the street, we can stay there for the night then leave?" I smile a bit." Yeah sounds good." I smile as we get up and heads to the hotel after I grab a bag of clothes then locks my car door. I quickly run back in the bar to pay my tab" Shit almost forgot, again Sorry about the table Sean." He just nods and smiles" It's okay lad, just be safe and treat her right." I smile and nods as I head across the street.

Ruby's POV.

As we got into the room Carmelo puts his bag on the spare bed and grabs some pajamas." I'm going to shower Okay" I nod as he leaves to the bathroom and takes a shower I sigh softy laying in my bed as I hear the shower turn on." Ruby what have you done?" I sit up and rubs my face gently.

I'm running away from my abusive ex boyfriend and I can't believe I dragged this poor guy in on this. He seems nice but I don't want to him to get hurt because of me . After a while I sit on the bed and turns the tv on to see what's on as I stop on the travel channel and watches it. A little while later Carmelo walks out of the bathroom in just sleeping pants as the water trails down his abs I look away blushing as I hear him chuckle.

" Sorry forgot my shirt in my bag." He looks at the tv and smiles." Oh shit mysteries at the museum. I love this show." I laugh a bit and nods." So do I. I love a little mystery." Carmelo smirks a bit and sits on the other bed putting on his shirt I frown a bit but looks at the tv while doing so.

After a while I yawn and gets under the covers as I look over at Carmelo seeing him stare at a watch." What's that?" I ask softly as he turns to look at me." My ex gave me this watch last year for my birthday, I want to get rid of it." He sighs as I just nod slowly falling asleep.

As I fell asleep I wake up to someone shaking me gently I throw a fist hitting someone thinking it's my ex but looks down as I see Carmelo." Oh my god" I turn the light on and runs to Carmelo." Shit I'm so so sorry." I look at him as he just laughs rubbing his jaw." It's fine I shouldn't have shaken you. But are you okay? You were yelling in your sleep and crying."

I nod then just hugs him close feeling safe around him for some strange reason." I'm not okay." I whisper as I burry my face in his chest , I feel him rub my back gently which calms me down ." Want to talk about it?" He whispers gently." You don't have to if you don't want to."

I smile at what he says and pulls back sitting on the bed as I look at Carmelo." I'm running away from my ex, he was very abusive and well I tried to escape a couple of times but he kept finding me so this time I used cash and got rid of my phone and got a new phone."

He nods as I cuddle up against him." Can you stay in the bed with me I feel safe with you here." He nods as we cuddle close and I fall asleep laying my head on his chest.

Carmelo's POV

Poor Ruby, I can't believe she had to deal with an asshole like that. I look at her as she's softly snoring on my chest sleeping I gently brush her hair as I play with it and falls asleep.the next morning I wake up and tries to move but feels arms around me I look at Ruby and smiles gently looking at her as she's still sleeping.

I just let her rest a bit longer as I grab the tv remote and turns it on watching it. After a while she wakes up and looks at me." Hi, how did you sleep last night?" I whisper to her as she pulls back and blushes." I slept good last night, thank you for not freaking out when I laid on your chest and fell asleep."

I smile and nods." You're welcome also it's fine , ready to get the day started?" She nods and gets up to stretch then heads to the bathroom I smile lightly and gets up getting dressed in a black shirt blue jeans and a flannel." Wow!" I look back and smiles as Ruby is wearing a sun dress." You look really handsome ." I blush and nods.

" Thanks. You look beautiful." I smile as she blushes dark red looking at me." Thank you. Let's go and eat I'm kinda hungry." I nod agreeing with her as we go and eat breakfast downstairs in the cafeteria. I look at the food choices and grabs some bacon and toast with some apple juice. I look over as Ruby grabs some muffins and a plum." Hey Ruby mind getting me a plum also.?"

She smiles and grabs me one as we sit down and eats" thanks for the plum, I love these. They're so good." I take a small bite out of it as Ruby looks at me." So where are we going to go?" I smile softly looking at her as I wipe my mouth." Well Ruby that's a secret." She giggles and looks at me." Oh come on please I can keep a secret." She smiles looking at me cause me to chuckle.

" Okay well the first place on this road trip is Saint Augustine. Love that place if I can I will move there." She smiles gently." Never been there before." I look at her and smiles big." Your going to love it I promise." I gently grab her hand as I do an elderly lady smile at us and says." You two are such a beautiful couple." This causes us both to blush like crazy." Oh no we're not dating." Ruby says softly as the lady smiles and says." Oh congratulations then hope you two have a great honeymoon." She walks away as we both blush darker." Okay I'll take the blame for that." Ruby says as we both laugh a bit as we head back to the room to pack up our stuff in my car.

I look at her as she smiles softly and gets into my car putting on the seatbelt as she looks relaxed I sit next to her in the drivers seat and starts the car up." Ready?"

She nod and smiles leaning into a pillow as I drives off.

(An yup a cliff hanger hahaha. Okay honestly I don't know how to end this so I may do a second part to this someday.
