Duskwood: after episode 10

Chapter 5

Everyone is doing much better now.

We just needed more time to process this event. To accept that Richy would not return, or come back from the dead.
We had to, after all.

Time heals all wounds. Isn't that what they say?
Or at least forces us to live with them...

The others seem to be doing okay, at least better than before.
They try to focus on the good things, like the fact that Hannah is safe and sound, and that the mystery of the man without face has been solved.
But I've got to admit, I am really proud of Jessy.
She has now recovered. Not fully, but still.

Because when you lose someone, the grief never really goes away.

I didn't want to go back home yet.
My heart couldn't take it.

I was in love with this place.

Someone would say that Duskwood is just a small town, nothing exciting about it. And that it's like any other usual place.
But to me, it has a special place in my heart.

And that's why I decided to extend my stay.

*incoming call from Phil*

Wait, Phil?
The last time I heard from him was when he asked for help to get him out of jail.

I hesitate at first, because I'm not sure what I should be ready to hear.
Is he going to complain for the fact that he is still in jail, or the fact that I didn't help him?

Probably both.

But what do I have to lose?

I answer the phone and close my eyes.

"Hello Y/N."

His voice sounds happy.
That is a good sign.

"Long time no see Phil."
"It's been a while." I say hesitantly

"Well, how can I thank you?"

I sigh in relief and laugh.

"That's what I wanted to hear."

"I got out of jail a few days ago, thanks to you, Y/N."

"Stop you're making me blush." I say in a playful tone

"How can I repay you then?" he asks eager for an answer

"Well, that drink you promised me. Like, ages ago." I try to remind him

"A drink is the least that I can offer you, Y/N."
"Or your friends." he quickly adds

"So I guess you are not holding a grudge against them?"

"Of course not." he reassures me

That is good to hear. Finally, no enemies.

"Then, I guess we'll see you in a couple of days?"

"Days?" he hesitates

There is small pause and then the realisation hits him.

"That means you are in Duskwood, am I right?" he asks happily

"That's correct." I answer with a wide smile
"In a few days then?"

"In a few days." he repeats

And with that, our call ended.

*groupchat*

Y/N : guys
don't get mad
I talked with Phil and he says we are all invited to the Aurora.

*Thomas is online*

Thomas : now that's surprising.
I thought he was still mad at us.

*Cleo is now online*

Cleo : so, just like that he invites us all to his bar?
I'm not sure about that Y/N.

Y/N : ohh come on Cleo.
everything is over, why would he be mad?

*Dan is now online*

Dan : what are you talking about here?

Y/N : Phil invited us to his bar.

Dan : oh nice

Cleo : I don't think that's a good idea though.
Remember the last time we talked?
We could have ended up in jail back then, when we were trying to break in the bar's basement.

Dan : well, karma.
That's what you get for not letting me participate.

Thomas : I think Y/N is right.
There is no reason for him to be angry now.

Dan : who can refuse to alcohol after all?

Y/N : BAHAHA
I'm with Dan on this.

*Jessy is now online*

Jessy : hi

Dan : hello babe

Jessy : 🤭

Thomas : Have you read the previous messages, Jessy?

Jessy : yeah I did.
Look guys, I know you think Phil is an asshole.
But he is a good person.
I mean, as you said earlier, you attempted a break-in. He had his reasons to be mad.

Dan : yeah, I agree

Y/N : shut up Dann
you are only saying this because the drinks will be free.

Dan : 😎

Jessy : well, there is that.
Besides, everything is over now.

Cleo : I'll trust you on this.

Thomas : It would be great to take my mind off of things.
I'll bring Hannah too, if that's ok with you.

Y/N : of course Thomas.

Jessy : we all have to repay the favor to  Y/N someday.
she is the reason the drinks will be free.
