Y/N's  POV
School is finally over. At least for the week. But that's not the reason why I've been smiling the whole day. I'm never this enthusiastic, there are only four things I'm excited about in life.
Music, hockey, sleep, and my best friend.
"Y/N! Y/N where are you?"
He's part of the small group of people
I feel I can connect with.
"Y/N, we're gonna be late if you don't hurry up."
Ken's been nagging at me forever to be more organized and move faster.
I'm always late to everything I attend, but he's here to help me. :)
"Sorry Ken, but I'm late to everything already, and coach never minds anyway," I said with full confidence.
"Are you serious? C'mon, we need to get going. I can't believe you." Ken said snatching my guitar leaving me with my backpack alone. "Kennnn..ugh." I picked myself up and ran to catch up with him.
As Ken and I entered the bus, I took the window seat and Ken sat next to me. I'm always dead tired after school, and the bus ride always lasted forever, but today was worse. I slept at 3:32 a.m last night and couldn't stay awake anymore.
I dozed off just two minutes into the ride, not knowing anything after.

Ken's POV
I was about to ask Y/N about her band practice until I suddenly felt a familiar weight on my shoulder. As I turned my head, I saw her (H/C) hair drift across her forehead as her head lay on my shoulder peacefully. I couldn't help but blush so much my face became warm.
She looked so comfortable, and I resisted every urge to pat her head and fall asleep with her, knowing neither of us would be able to wake up. I just left her there and tried to distract myself from her breathing, and as soon as I knew it, the bus came to a stop.

Y/N's POV
My head felt so heavy as I tried to get myself together. "Ugh, Ken are we there yet?" I said, half awake. "Oh, you're up! Then let's leave. I have a surprise for you."
I smiled brightly and nodded to Ken while almost grabbing my guitar until he took it again. "You already have to carry it all around school for eight hours. I'm not gonna let you be any more tired today,"
Ken said as he quickly left the bus with my guitar and backpack whilst carrying his own. What would I do without Ken? Again, for the second time today, I rushed to catch up with my best friend. As we walked for a few minutes Ken suddenly stopped in front of a small shop. "Here we are," he exclaimed.
"Wait is this—" I started and Ken finished my sentence. "The ice cream shop." The ice cream shop was near my house and was our usual hang-out spot aside from each other's houses, but it felt special today. He then held my arm and walked me into the shop and gestured for me to take a seat. He then walked up to the cashier and pointed to various choices on the menu and then paid. Ken looked at me and smiled with so much happiness in him, and approached our table to sit.

Ken's POV
As I finished ordering, I walked back to our table and just sat there staring at Y/N. She was thinking again, fidgeting with her pencil case, reordering her pencils in color order; I think it's the cutest thing ever. I think she noticed me staring since her face was getting pinker by the second. But then I heard our orders get called so I dashed to go get them. My order was French vanilla, my favorite, with chocolate chips sprinkled on top, and Y/N's order was, well, a surprise. (੭ ᐕ)੭*⁾⁾
I grabbed the cups of ice cream and was about to go back to our table until I saw a boy talking to Y/N. He looked really familiar, I think I saw him in the band room once or twice, but it still bothered me seeing her with another guy who was so touchy. He slightly hugged her but I could tell she was uncomfortable. I mean who wouldn't be, that guy is six feet and three inches tall. I didn't want to interfere with Y/N's relationships and I knew I shouldn't interrupt anything, but of course,
I did.

Y/N's POV
I'm so upset. I was having the most relaxing time with Ken, and then he had to show up. Ever since middle school, this guy hasn't left me alone. Hayden is the type of guy to chase after any nice girl who notices him. Unfortunately, I was nice and noticed him all through middle school. Plus he's not horrible, but that doesn't mean I don't feel uncomfortable talking to him. The only thing he can do is make awkward small talk and every time he talks to me, my brain turns off. Today was even worse because I was so tired and now he's here. He again made small talk, but then hugged me. He's done it before, but
I hate it, so much. I just barely got out of his embrace and managed to utter a sentence half-assed. "It's uh..so nice to see you, here..Hayden. What's..up?"
"I haven't seen you in so long, Y/N. Did you see the..and the..it was so cool..and,"
Jayden went on, and on, and on, but I just sat there and listened to him for about three minutes straight, until he finally shut up. "Wow, that's nice Hayden, but I'm a little busy right now, could we talk later?"
I worriedly said, knowing he could talk forever. "Oh yeah, yeah of course, but I've been meaning to ask you would you wanna hang out sometime this week or during lunch?" I'm not joking, I'm going to punch my fist into his forehead.
"Hayden, I'm sorry but I really can't, I'm busy—" He then cut me off, "I know but you know we could always hang out—" and then suddenly, Ken was in between us.
"Hey Hayden, sorry to interrupt, but Y/N is busy, and so am I. But I heard a rumor that one of the girls in band liked you, maybe check that out?"
Bless the universe I have Ken on my side.
"Oh uh..okay..see you guys..around." Hayden walked out the door blushing and flustered over the fact that a girl might actually like him. Ken then looked at me with the most tranquil aura surrounding him and handed me two ice cream cups. "Here's yours, and make sure to try mine too," I was about to give him a speech about how thankful I was to him, for buying (f/flavor) ice cream but he just smiled and fed me a spoon of my ice cream and his. We just ate after and talked for what seemed like hours.

"Ken I'm not joking we're gonna be late."
"Y/N, tomorrow is Saturday, and yes I know practice starts in ten minutes, but seriously, both of us are dead tired.
....I'd rather skip with you," I know Ken felt something when he said that because he blushed like crazy when he said his last sentence. It wasn't only him though, I felt so special at that moment. "Me too. Let's go," right as I said that we smiled at each other, picked our bags up, and left the shop. Since my home was so close to the ice cream shop, we decided to walk home and we chatted all the way. When we finally reached our destination I was going to take out my keys until I got a call. I picked up and it was my mom. I put my phone to my ear and began to listen to her. "Yeah, yeah okay, wait, actually?? I mean okay no problem, bye mom," I ended the call and told Ken. "My family won't be home all week since they're visiting my siblings, so it'll just be us." Ken smiled and blushed, but I questioned myself why he blushed, being completely oblivious to the fact that we would be in my room 99% of the time, alone. I opened the door and we went in.
