The voices of others filled the busy space. You'd have to yell if you wanted the person next to you to actually hear what you're saying. The sound of cans cracking open, the sound of ice and liquid being shaken vigorously, and the sound of glasses clinking and people yelling shots. Just the typical things you hear at a bar.
It was a long day at the office and I needed to wind down. What better place to do that than at a gay bar. Maybe I'll even get lucky and meet a beautiful woman. As if my prayers were being answered, a woman sits next to me at the bar top.
"Can I have a gin and tonic, please?", the voice next to me says. I take a sip of my old fashion and look to my right to catch a glimpse of the stranger. Black wavy hair was all I could see until she tucked some of her hair behind her ear and turned to look at me as if she already felt my eyes on her. Her emerald green eyes glowed in the dim bar and her red lipstick popped, complimenting her porcelain skin. This beautiful face seemed familiar but I couldn't pinpoint where.
She was the first to speak, "Hi.".
"Hi.", was all I could muster up.
A few seconds passed as we smiled at each other. When I was about to introduce myself a girl with short black hair and green eyes, not as striking as the ones next to me, rushed to the stranger and put her hand on her shoulder.
"If you're gonna drag me to a gay bar at least stay with me. I've been looking for you.".
"Sorry but you started chatting it up with some random person and I wanted a drink.", the woman with the long black hair said to what seemed to be her friend.
"I'm a very social person, you know this. You take me out and I'm going to start talking to a bunch of random people. But, it looks like you made a friend, who's this?", said the girl with the short black hair.
Right, when I was going to say my name I feel a hand on my shoulder and hear a very familiar voice, Jesus, was I ever going to get the chance to introduce myself.
"Alright Korra, is this your latest conquest?", my friend says.
"Hi I'm Korra, please ignore my rude friend Kuvira.", I say as I extend my hand out to the woman sitting next to me.
She chuckles and says "Hi, I'm Asami. Nice to meet you. This is my friend Opal.".
"That's a nice name, Opal.", Kuvira says as she shakes Opal's hand.
"Thanks.". There was an awkward pause as Opal looked at Kuvira then at me and then she cleared her throat and spoke again, "I'm just here to support my friend. I'm not gay.".
Kuvira let out a small chuckle, "Just because I complimented you doesn't mean I want to sleep with you.".
"Well, we are at a gay bar. Usually, complimenting someone leads to something else.", Opal argued.
"I guess that's fair but in all honesty, I smelled the straightness as soon as you walked into the bar."
"Oh really? You smelled the straightness?", Opal said as she rolled her eyes. The two went back and forth while Asami and I stared at them in amusement. Kuvira managed to convince Opal to meet some of her friends at the other side of the bar. The two walked off and then it was just me and this breathtaking woman.
"Is your friend always a handful?", Asami asked.
"Pretty much.", I say with a small chuckle, followed by a chuckle from Asami.
"But, she's a good person deep down. She's working on herself. Is your friend always so sassy?"
Asami laughs and nods in agreement. "Pretty much, but she's also a good person."
