YUNA HATED TO take help from others

YUNA HATED TO take help from others. All her life, she had been given help by someone or the other when she absolutely did not need it. It was okay initially, because well, who doesn't like a bit of help? But it started getting an issue when all her achievements were shadowed by the fact that she had help. Unnecessary help.

For instance, she had opened a coffee shop not because she wanted to, but because her parents were rich enough to buy her a piece of land. No one asked, nor did they care that she had purchased the shop with mostly own money; because it was her dream job, they just paid attention to the fact that her parents had also given her financial help.

And now, she just knew her day was going to be highly shitty because she was standing at her neighbour's door with a bag of toiletries hooked on her shoulder. She would've done absolutely anything to not ask for help from her neighbour, but she could not afford to lose even a minute.

Cringing on the inside, she rang the bell and waited. And waited, and waited and waited. After what seemed like an eternity, she heard the door opening. On usual days, she wouldn't have waited that long. She wouldn't even be there to ask for help from a stranger. But then again, she didn't have much of a choice.

The door opened to a blue-haired man, and she immediately regretted it. She wanted to let out a string of curses which would make her mother wonder about her parenting.

"Oh," he exclaimed while she was gaping at him, wondering why on earth had she run into him more than once in 24 hours whereas most of his fandom never met him in person, "I'm a little concerned, Miss Yuri. I really hope you aren't stalking me."

"Yuna actually," Yuna narrowed her eyes in offence, "And I really think you should not accuse someone falsely, Mr RM."

"My apologies, Miss Yuna," Namjoon paused, and then said, "if I'm falsely accusing you as you put it, please do tell me why you are standing on my doorstep."

Namjoon did not know what to think. Being a world-famous star, his first instinct was that the coffee shop girl, whose name was Yuna, not Yuri, was a stalker. Because only a limited number of staff members from Hybe including his members and producer-nim, and his family knew about his little flat in the apartment complex that he had turned into a studio where he used to work when inspiration struck him. Most of his demo versions and initial drafts were done here before he took them to the company to discuss them with the others.

Yuna badly wanted to shove her middle finger up his face and then storm out of there at his tone. Sure, she was a fan of his music. The lyrics were good and meaningful. But that gave him no right to think that she was stalking him. She had better work to do. "For your information, Mr RM, we're neighbours," she pointed to her apartment across from them, "And I wanted to ask for a favour from my neighbour but I don't think you want to be disturbed so I will just ask someone else for help. Thanks for answering the door, though."

Yuna turned to leave because in no way she was interested in taking help, especially from him, even though she was running late. "Wait," Namjoon called, and she turned just halfway to meet his eyes, "Let me help you. Take it as a payback for yesterday."

The previous day, Namjoon had taken shelter from the pouring in her coffee shop and had free coffee, Namjoon's friend had come to pick him and his bike up and dropped him home. Namjoon had tried to make conversation with Yuna, who allowed him to take shelter in her shop, but she didn't respond much. Namjoon thought it was extremely rude of her, but in reality, he didn't know that she was tired after a highly stressful day and wanted nothing but some quiet time to relax with her cup of coffee.

"Err, well," Yuna started awkwardly after staring at his face for quite a while, not believing that she was even considering his offer, "My shower isn't working," she said in an embarrassing tone, closing her eyes to avoid looking at him, "I would've never asked this to someone, but I need to rush to a date. Would you let me use your shower? I'll be done in ten minutes, really."

"Your shower is not working so you want to take shower at my place?" Namjoon repeated her words, and Yuna rushed to give an explanation,

"I didn't know it was you, I just knocked at my neighbour's house because neighbours are supposed to help, aren't they?"

"Yeah," Namjoon sighed, "I suppose they are. Okay, come in."

"Wait, really?"

"Sure. As payment for yesterday, I'll let you use my shower. Come on in before someone spots us."

"Ok. Yes." Yuna said as she got into the apartment, Namjoon closing the door behind him, "Thank you, Mr RM."

"It's no big deal," Namjoon shrugged off, "And I would very much like if you just called me Namjoon instead. As your neighbour," he added and showed her the way to his shower down the hall. "I also have to be somewhere in forty minutes, so I really hope you won't take much time."

"Oh no, totally. I won't, just give me ten minutes," Yuna said, walking ahead already, "Thank you so much, Namjoon-ssi."

"Hope you enjoy your shower, Yuna-ssi."

Exactly fifteen minutes later, Yuna came out to the room that looked like a plant factory; it was supposed to be a living room, but maybe Namjoon loved indoor plants, she thought. She wondered why Namjoon had a flat in their apartment complex when he could literally afford to buy the whole neighbourhood, but she knew better than to be nosy and voice it out. "Thank you once again, Mr Namjoon, I don't think I can ever repay you."

As she was going, Namjoon put a travel mug in front of her, "I made this for you." When she gave him a questioning look, he continued, "Iced coffee. It's the only thing I can make without burning down my whole kitchen," he chuckled, "I know it won't anywhere near delicious as the coffee you make, but please accept it, for helping me yesterday."

"You didn't have to," Yuna shook her head, her slightly damp strands of hair moving with the movement, "You already repaid me by helping me today, so I can't accept this."

"Please, I insist," Namjoon said, pressing the mug in her hand, "I'm not repaying you. Accept it as a token of gratitude."

"Okay," Yuna softly said, "Thank you, Namjoon," and Namjoon saw her smile. Namjoon was mesmerised seeing her smile. He did not know what it was, but he did know it was something related to coffee.
