This book is quite old, and I'd like to think I've gotten much better since then, so read with caution. I suggest skipping to at least ch.50 to get to the semi-decent and better covers...
Looking at this image, I immediately think of the legend of the red string of fate that ties soulmates together. Based on the look of the person in the image, it is easy to come to the conclusion that being fated to someone isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Maybe their personalities don't match. Maybe their soulmate doesn't want a soulmate, or already loves someone else. Maybe their soulmate is just a complete jerk. The possibilities are endless.
It would be cool to see a story about soulmates who don't work well together and possible never do. Do they separate at the end? Can they?
