The week after the building, not-so-resting week, we actually rested up. Ande made sure the kids and the people staying home knew their battle moves and Chase made sure everyone knew their battle moves by having them describe how to do them. I had one last sword fighting session and Valin went too to train. He as an excellent fighter. Ande put him in Chase's attack group.
We made sure to eat a lot of protein, eating spaghetti on Monday, Thursday, and Sunday. On Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday we had whatever we felt like making.
I helped board the windows and store all of the valuables in the weapons room with Chase. We still didn't let anyone know about it. We weren't going to tell anyone until we are leaving to the battle. And we are only telling my mom about it then.
On Sunday I went hunting. Even though prey is scarce and we were on a food surplus, it's good to get as much meat as possible. I walked out of the tunnels, closing and locking the door behind me, and went to the field in the woods where I found Amy. I figured that that was a good, far spot to try.
Once in the clearing, I silently walked through the tall grass looking for prey. Surprisingly I found a small group of maybe 3-5 deer. The deer started to run away when I killed one but I chased and killed them. There were 4 deer.
'I guess they forgot some.' I thought.
I kept on hunting in that area until I got more catches than we have been getting. I had caught 9 mice, 5 fish, 4 birds, and 6 shrews. I went back to the house and told everyone the news.
"And I caught even more prey after the deer." I finished.
"We should have been hunting there. If we had gotten that much now, then we would have caught even more before the dragon hybrids stole all the prey." Fang said. Everyone agreed.
"Well we didn't know about that place before." Ande explained. "It's thanks to Karly that we found it."
"I would like to take a group there to hunt the rest of the day if you let me." I suggested to my sister.
"You can go. Take Kyle, Fang, Blizzard, Andrew, and Lilly." She agreed.
So I did. I took the group to the clearing and we spread out to cover not only the clearing, but some of the forest surrounding it too. In total, we caught 30 mice, 25 squirrels, 20 birds, 15 shrew, and 10 fish. Fang was right, we should have been hunting here.
When we got back and had cleaned and put away the meat, it was dinner time. After dinner we went to bed early, trying to get as much energy as we can before the battle.
-----------------------------------------------------Hello! I'm sorry these last two chapters are short, I didn't have any ideas for the two resting weeks. I can guarantee that the next, and sadly last, chapter will be longer than these two.
I hope you enjoyed these books! If you did and you're not following, click the follow button and give a Hybrid a home. Anyway, I hope you guys have a great day/night and I'll talk to you later. Bye!
