Hank POV
Mikkeli, Hayden, and I sit in the pack's dungeon on the second territory. Kyle and Rob are probably still asleep. I haven't spoken with my friend yet but when I do I will for sure...
"Why you didn't tell me that Rob had a family member killed by me?" Mikkeli interrupts the silence, and Hayden sighs. I guess he is not happy he will be standing in the middle of an upcoming argument.
"When we merged our packs, there was lots of bad blood between us, but we agreed to start anew with a clean slate for everyone. We promised fair treatment and judgment. I didn't know about the mates' thing. But I know Rob; he was in pain because of Renan's death, but he wasn't a threat to Kyle or you. And you don't seem to have the same problem with Roseanne or the families of other rapists," I say calmly.
"They are not Kyle's mate," Mikkeli sighs. "I understand your reasoning, but do you vouch for him?"
"Yes, I do, but I can't vouch for their mating to go smoothly," I say.
"I don't expect that; mating is personal business, it's just... Kyle is my younger brother. I am overprotective over him; I know that, and... if Rob does something to Kyle, I will skin him alive."
I smirk at that; I can put myself in his shoes. But I wonder how it will be when Kathy meets her other half. Will I also want nothing more than to sink my claws into her future mate?
"Rob is just confused or was confused. I got the feeling that he made his choice."
Mikkeli doesn't comment because the door opens, and Patrick and Roseanne shove Dickson inside. Till this moment, I've never paid too much attention to him. In my pack, he wasn't necessary; he kept to himself. But to tell the truth, we don't have evidence of him as a preparator for the last attack on Kyle. So I wonder how Mikkeli intends to proceed with it; I know him enough to be sure that he doesn't intend to make him confess through torture.
"Has anyone seen you?" asks Hayden.
"No, we made sure to bring him here discreetly," says Patrick, pushing Dickson to sit in the chair prepared for him.
Mikkeli stands up and goes closer.
"So, ten years ago, you wanted to sell my brother," he says slowly, and Dickson instantly tries to back away from him, yet Patrick holds him still.
"I didn't know he was your brother," Dickson manages to speak, but I see how hard he trembles.
"That makes it more personal for me, not any less awful, Dickson. You wanted to sell the child, omega wolf, your pack member. And you were right when you told Kyle that I wouldn't simply banish you but could rip your heart out," Mikkeli says.
"You can't; you are my Alpha, and killing your own pack member just like that? I was punished, Alpha. Your father beat the shit out of me for this; please, just please..."
"Shhh...Dickson, you answer the questions I'll ask."
Even I have some chills hearing Mikkeli's tone.
"Illegal lab at our territory. What can you tell me about that?" He asks.
Dickson looks totally surprised; well, not only he, but also I didn't see it coming. True, I forgot that Mikkeli decided not to include me in their investigation at all.
"I...I don't... know what you talk about..." Dickson is on the verge of crying.
"My dear friend, I could use my Alpha's Command to force you to tell me the truth, but there is one problem: the survival instinct of any werewolf. You will resist if you are convinced that following my command will cause your death. That's why Alphas cannot order a suicide, for example. But I have other things for you. So, Patrick, please enlighten our guest."
