You walk inside of Erebor holding a basket in your arms. "Fili?" You call loudly, your voice ricocheting off the walls. "Fili!" You repeat. The sound of someone running bounces off the walls and Fili comes into view. "Oh, Y/N." He says, smiling. You walk over to him. "How is he? I brought him some soup and special herbal tea." You say. "Oh..." Fili trails off, shifting uncomfortably. "Is something wrong?" You ask, your eyebrows drawing. "Well, n-" He starts as Tauriel walks in, interrupting him. "Fili, I was wondering if you had any cold ra-" She stops talking when she sees you. "Oh." You breathe, looking to the ground. "Yes, Tauriel?" Fili asks. "I was just wondering if you had any cold rags to help bring down Kili's fever." She answers. "He has a fever?" You ask, your eyes widening. Tauriel nods. "I need to see him." You state, walking into the direction of his room. "I don't think-" Tauriel starts. "Look." You interrupt, fixing her with a stare. "I've been best friends with Kili since we were children and you've only known him for two years. Do not tell me what you think is best for him, okay?" You say, raising an eyebrow. She looks to the ground and nods. You stalk off, anger prickling your skin.~
"Kili?" You ask, pushing his door open. "Y/N?" He moans. "Y/N!" Kili exclaims as you walk into the room. He tries to push himself up but you rush over to him. You put a hand on his shoulder and gently push him down. "Kili, you need to rest. I hear you have a fever." You say. He nods and sigh. He reaches for your hand. "I'm so glad you came." He says, smiling. You smile. "I brought you some soup and my herbal tea." You inform. "Oh, thank you so much. I'm so hungry." He breathes. "Are you able to keep food down?" You inquire. "Nothing solid. I can keep liquid down though. That's what Tauriel has been feeding me." Kili informs. Your spine stiffens at the mention of her feeding him. Jealously chases the anger in your veins. You clench your jaw and manage a tight smile. "Then let's see how well you can take my soup." You say, reaching into the basket and pulling out a container of soup. You pop the lid off and rests the cup on Kili's nightstand. You prop the pillows up for Kili and he rests against them. You grab a spoon and then sit on his bed. "Are you too weak to eat it yourself?" You ask. He sighs and nods just as Tauriel enters the room with a basin and a towel. "That's okay, Y/N, I'll feed him." She says. "Excuse me, but I will." You state. You give a fake syrupy smile. "I wouldn't want you take extra work." You say sweetly. She stares at you, her lips thinning into a line. "Fine." She mutters, going to the other side of Kili's bed. "I'll be here to bathe his head when you're finished." Tauriel says. You glare at her. "No, that's all right. You've been working so hard and you need a rest." You say tightly. "Oh, no, I couldn't possibly." She says, narrowing her eyes. "You-you really could." You say. You squint. "You know, I'm actually seeing dark circles under your eyes. And you're eyes are blood shot, too. Gosh, Tauriel, you really need to rest." You say insincerely.
"I'm perfectly fine, Y/N." Tauriel says, smiling sweetly at you. "Why don't you just go back home and leave Kili to me? I'd be happy to help him in every way possible." She adds. "Sure. Sure you would." You say sardonically. "You'd be happy because then you could finally make a move on him!" You exclaim angrily standing. "Wha-why I never-!" Tauriel sputters. "What is going on?" Kili asks, watching this whole spat play out. "I thought I was going to enjoy some soup and eat in peace!" He exclaims. Tauriel and you both ignore him. "Don't think I can't see behind those Elf eyes of yours, Tauriel. I know you've been pawning for Kili ever since you two became acquainted in Mirkwood." You say, crossing your arms in front of your chest. Kili gasps. "Sounds like you're a bit jealous." Tauriel states. Your eyes widen and you clench your jaw. She laughs. "Oh, I get it now." She says, leveling a stare at you. "You like him...possibly even love him." She states. You stare at her, unable to protest because it is true. "You don't want me getting close to Kili because you're afraid I'm going to take him away from you." She says. "You're scared that Kili is going to choose me...not you." She adds. You flinch, her words on point. "I guess we'll let Kili decide that fate then..." She trails off and then looks at Kili. "Won't we?" She asks. He looks between Tauriel and you. "What?" He asks. "Kili, which one? Who do you love more?" You ask. His eyes widen. "Y/N or me, Kili?" Tauriel asks. "Who do you want to spend the rest of your life with?" She asks. Kili swallows, his complexion more pale. "I-I love you both." He whispers. "Kili, that's impossible. You need to choose." You state. "I-I-I'm very tired. I'll let you know once I'm well enough." He says, sliding back down in bed. Your heart softens. "You don't want anything to eat?" You ask. He shakes his head. "Could you both leave me alone for a while? I need to sort out of heart." He says, his voice hoarse. You nod. "Okay." You murmur. "Get well." You say quietly, backing away. Before you leave the room you throw one last glare at Tauriel. She narrows her eyes and shakes head.~
Two weeks after you had it out with Tauriel, you get a message from Kili telling you to meet him in Erebor. As you make your way there, Tauriel joins you. "I'm guessing this meeting is about us." You state, not looking at her. "That's my bet." She says. The rest of the way neither of you say anything until you meet Kili in the Gallery of the Kings. "Thank you both so much." Kili says. You nod. "You're welcome." Tauriel says. "You are well rested?" She asks, concern in her tone. You chide yourself inwardly on not asking him first. "Yes, much better." Kili answers, smiling. He sighs. "Well, I bet you both know why I asked you here today." He says. Tauriel and you nod. "This decision wasn't easy. You both have been so kind and sweet to me and I'm so thankful for both of you. I love you both, I really do." He says. You bow your head, knowing that he's going to pick the Elf. "But it's Y/N whom I'm in love with more." He says quietly. You snap your head up in shock. "What?" You gasp quietly. Tauriel sighs deeply and her shoulders droop. "Tauriel, I loved you. I- I was in love with you when I first met you in Mirkwood. But then once we reclaimed Erebor and Y/N moved from the Blue Mountains to live Dale, I realized I loved her too. I was in love with you both." He states. "But I love you more deeply." Kili says, staring at you. He reaches out his hand and you take it. "Forgive me, Tauriel, if I lead you..." He trails off. She sniffs and shakes her head. "No, no, it's all right." She whispers, backing away. "I need to go." She says, before fleeing.
"Y/N?" Kili asks, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you close to him. "Yes?" You say, looking up at him. "You thought I was going to choose Tauriel, weren't you?" He says. You smile and shrug. "Yeah. Yeah, I did." You answer. He kisses your forehead. "I still can't believe you both were practically fighting about me." He murmurs. You grimace. "Sorry about that." You breathe. "No, no. It's not to be fought over. It should happen more often." Kili says. You elbow him gently in the ribs. "Don't flatter yourself." You say, grinning. He returns it and hugs you tightly. "Kili." You say. "Yes, Y/N?" He asks. "I love you." You say, resting your chin on his shoulder. His hand runs the length of your back and then massages the small of your back. "I love you too." He whispers. You close your eyes and wrap your arms around his waist.
