((It's been 3 years since I've read it geez lol a lot happens in 3 years my writing style may be different.

This scene takes place after they leave the hospital once Axel is healed. After the attacks)

Freya ran a comb through her dark hair as she brushed it out, preparing to braid it. They had retrieved what little luggage they had from the base Ace had let them stay in. Her fingers intertwined strands of hair as she created two braids down her head. Sighing and her arm tired, she walked over to the couch in the hotel they were staying in for the time being. Sitting, she held herself there, arms wrapped around herself.

And then she made the mistake of looking up and seeing the bag that belonged to Roger on the floor, and her eyes watered as tears filled them. A broken sob ripped from her throat as she lowered her head, shaking uncontrollably from the realization her grandparents and Roger were gone for good. She had been through so much and she was only 18. Her birthday had passed a few weeks ago but she didn't want to celebrate it.

Roger was gone. He wasn't coming back. The young man that had spilled his heart out to her about his life, the boy who carried her to safety when she was hurt, the guy who smiled with pride and stubbornness. She wouldn't be able to argue with him anymore.

Freya didn't hear the hotel door open and she didn't hear the groceries get set down on the counter but when the couch dipped beside her and an arm wrapped around her she leaned into the warm body beside her. One arm wrapped around her small body as she was held close.

She gasped for breath through her sobs. She couldn't look up at him. She hated people seeing her cry.

"I-I'm so-sor-sorry Ax-Axel." She managed through the tears, hiding her face in his chest. She heard him whispering soothing words, German accent prominent with them all.

"Shh, Freya. It be okay." She nodded into him as they held each other, the sun slowly sinking down out the small window.

Axel spent most of his spare time completely devoted to the English German dictionary, practicing his English. Freya would sit with him and lecture him on adjectives and conjunctions and all the grammar and they would do that until he got bored and would try to kiss her and she would push him away with a smile and go make something to eat.

She had attempted to learn German too, but she wasn't the best at all of the memorization. She knew the basics.

Axel had placed Roger's belongings in a closet. The hotel was small, and only had the one bedroom, kitchen and living space with a sofa. Sticking to her morals and ignoring the teasing look in Axels eyes, she had offered him the bed and said she would take the sofa.

He immediately refused the bed and insisted on taking the couch.

But in the middle of the night when she would gasp awake from a nightmare or cry to sleep remembering Roger, Axel would appear and lie beside her and hum or sing or speak German, what he was saying she had no idea, but she would fall asleep to it.

She would wake in the morning and turn expecting to see him, but he was a gentleman and after she would fall asleep he would return to the sofa.

Freya had gotten her grandparents inheritance after visiting the bank and other places to fill out documents. Axel didn't tag along much and if he did he kept quiet, fearful of the people who would shoot him looks due to his German.

He needed to go home.

With her grandparents money, Freya first decided they would return to her house. Then they would figure out what to do next.
