Elena POV

Stepping out of the shower and grabbed her towel wiping off the steam covered mirror and staring at herself into the mirror. Getting so lost in her thoughts that she jumped when her phone went off, saying she received a text. Exiting the bathroom and grabbing her phone which was laying on her bed.

Reading the text from her best friend, Lizzy. Four letters, one syllable, that's all it took to stop Elena's heart. Next thing she did was drop her phone, her towel and rush to get dressed and find Lizzy.

Running out of the apartment and shutting the door behind her with one hand while the other was on her phone, opening the tracking app she insisted that Lizzy get when they decided to move to Chicago.

Following where the GPS told her to go, she sprinted, thanking herself for not skipping the gym the other day. Block by block she kept thinking of all the different types of scenarios that Lizzy would have gotten herself into. It was like danger followed that girl.

Sighing she turned down another street hearing a commotion a couple streets away. In her gut she knew that that's where Lizzie was. She kept running listening to what it sounded like a fight, a bad one by the amount of grunts she heard.

She stopped in her tracks and the scene in front of her, from across the street she could see a group of guys getting into it. Yet, that's not what stopped her, in the back of the alley against the wall she saw Lizzy, laying on the ground. Elena couldn't make out how she was, she was too far away.

Elena was waiting for an opening to cross the street, but there were so many cars. All she could do was watch. She saw three guys win against the others, and they began approaching her best friend. Who she could now see that Lizzy wasn't really conscious, she was helpless. And so was Elena forced to watch the three, she couldn't tell what they were doing, because a bus passed, and when the bus was gone all she saw was one of the guys holding Lizzy in his arms.

Muttering a fuck it under her breath she made a run across the street, letting all the cabbies honk and curse at her to get out of the road. When she made it safely (barely) across the street she didn't slow until she had her knife, that she pulled from her back pocket at the neck of one of the guys that was holding Lizzy.

"Tell your friend to put her on the ground slowly" Elena barked at him, while shoving his back into the wall.

"Woah. Woah chill. We are not here to hurt anyone" The guy whose life she was threatening said.

Elena said nothing in response, all she did was shove him further into the wall.

"Okay. Okay. Ivan" He started looking at the guy who was holding Lizzy. "Put her down. Carefully please" He added.

Ivan slowly started to layLizzy on the ground in front of him. Elena, looked over her shoulder to watch him, while knife boy used her watching Lizzy as a distraction. He flipped his and Elena's position and grasped the knife from her hand dropping it on the ground, and held Elena against the wall.

"Let. Me. Go." Elena hissed at him. Trying to fight against his grip, but he only held her tighter.

"Ivan, pick up the girl again, we need to get her out of here. And you" He turned to Elena, "I'm not going to hurt her. Okay? But, we need to get out of here because I really don't feel like fighting those guys again." He said gesturing to the five guys laying on the ground either unconscious or groaning in pain. Either way she knew that it was just a matter of time before they got up again.

"Fine" Elena muttered. "But if you hurt one hair on her fucking head, your dead. You hear me? I'll kill you if you hurt her" Elena warned making eye contact with all three guys until they nodded in response.

"You can let me go now" she reminded him.

He leaned in close to her ear, so she could feel his breath on her neck, "Nah, I think I like this position" He teased.

"Let me go"

"No"

"Yes"

"Nah"

"Yah"

"Oh my God," The third guy groaned, "You guys bicker like a freaking married couple, come on Cain. I want go get food"

"And we need to make sure the girl isn't hurt" Ivan added.

"Fine" Cain grumbled, backing off Elena, but not before leaning in one more time to whisper in her ear. "Your cute"

Brushing herself off, she began questioning the guys as to what happened to Lizzy, while they began walking. To where she didn't know, but for some reason she felt in her gut that she could trust them.

After listening to their point of view of Lizzy's attack and learning all their names elena knew she could trust them.

Cain or who she called, Knife boy, well at least in her head was about six feet tall, maybe taller, and was he smoking or what Elena thought in her head, dark hair, dark eyes, and a nice body.

Ivan, who was still carrying Lizzy, was about was the shortest of the three of them, but still had height over Elena. He was pretty ripped, like Cain, a little less so but still impressive.

And third one, he just told Elena his name, and she may or may not have laughed out loud. This completely obviously mexican guy, who looks kinda nerdy, but still his name is David. Elena couldn't believe it she just couldn't stop laughing.

They had gotten on the el and gone all the way to downtown, no one judged the fact that they had an unconscious girl in their arms. One in the morning on the el, people don't judge.David Was leading them to an apartment building, well more like skyscraper. Damn this guys got money. Elena thought to herself.

When they entered Davids's apartment, Ivan took Lizzy to his bedroom and started working on her injuries. Elena and Cain sat on the couch in the living room, silent waiting for one of them to speak first.

"Explain. How did you end up in that alley with Liz?" Elena demanded. She was done with no explanation, she needed to know what had happened to her best friend.

"Honestly I'm not too sure how she ended up there but, we heard a scream. A loud ass scream, that girl can yell. We checked it out and saw one guy beating on her and another four acting as look outs." explained Cain

"So you three took down five big beefy guys?" She scoffed. "You guys got lucky, no chance in hell you could have taken them down. I mean you guys have some meat on your bones, but no way."

"Ivan and I did most of it actually.David was useless, I mean he held his own but, that's pretty much it."

"How?" She didn't even tried to unbelieving tone in her voice.

"We, Ivan and I have been boxing for awhile now" He said carelessly "But you, your strong. Holding you against that wall wasn't as easy as it should have been." He said leaning closer to her.

"I guess you are just weaker than you thought" She threw back at him.

"Nah" He leaned closer so his lips grazed her ear, causing her to shiver and him to chuckle in response.

They didn't move, neither one wanted to ruin the moment. They just kept breathing and their minds racing. Cain leaned back so he was now staring in her eyes, he looked down at her lips. Slowly they leaned together, lips brushing each other- and David walked into the room and screamed like a little girl.

"AHHH MY EYES" He screamed running out of the room covering his eyes. Laughing they moved away from each other, ignoring the moment that they just had.

"I should go check on Liz" She stood and walked to Ivan's room. Stopping to look back at Cain and met his eyes. He was smirking at her and winked. Chuckling she shook her head and walked into the room, rolling her eyes.
