Polly pov

Nancy and Lucia had come to me early hours in the morning, looking scared and anxious. Didn't take a genius to figure out that the poor women know something they shouldn't, that they had seen or felt something that wasn't made for them. Over a cup of tea, they explained to me what was wrong

"It's Tommy. Everytime he's near, I feel a presence about him, something that's not quite right. I fear an omen, a bad one at that, is stalking him" Nancy spoke, her thick accent (which I'd finally got used to) cracking through the hekd back tears

"I was told not to tell you this but.....but something is about to happen. Something big; it will change our lives and I'm afraid I can't promise for the better. As difficult as it is, we must trust in Tommy. There is no point in warning him about the omen for I know that man, and he will ignore everything we tell him" I explained

"What is happening polly? No one is telling us anything" Lucia said clearly agitated by the unknown aura that chases this family

"Tommy is about to face his biggest enemy yet. Stalin" I said, choking back on the tears of fear that ran through me like a cold chill

"What? No. You're wrong. Tommy wouldn't be so stupid. My brother is many things but dumb isn't one of them. Tell me the truth" Nancy ordered ad her hands shook

"I know you don't want to believe it but it's true. He wants to get his revenge after it was stalins men that took you for so long" I explained

"Where is he? Is he going to Russia? What is his plan? God I'm gonna kill him" questions were flung at me from Nancy as Lucia tried her best to calm the frantic girl down

"Promise me you won't do anything stupid. Leave Tommy to it. The odds are not in his favour but no one can convince him to change his mind. Believe me we've all tried" I begged

"I'm not just gonna let him die over this. He'll be killed before he can even make it to the docks" Nancy screamed at me, standing up in anger

"It's true. Stalins men will be waiting for him, always one step ahead. If we don't stop him, then expect your nephew to be very dead very soon" and with that the women stormed off. All the tears I had been holding in flowed out of me. My face in my hands and my elbows on the table, my whole body shook as I sobbed for I feared the worst was yet to come

Tommy pov

I was sat in my office with Arthur John and Michael, going over some finishing touches on our plan when the door was flung open almost off its hinges. Nancy and Lucia were stood there looking flushed and weary, lips trembling as they struggled to keep it together

"What can I do for you ladies?" I asked lighting a cigarette

"If you try to kill stalin, you will die! But not before they have chance to torture you, stupid stupid stupid boy" Lucia yelled at me

"I take it you've spoken to polly" I huffed annoyed that she couldn't keep her mouth shut. I clearly stated that I wanted Lucia and Nancy to have no part in this. They've been through enough

"Please listen to me Tommy, you don't make sense. Stalins men will kill you like they do all the others and you won't even be heard of in Russia. That God awful man will know fuck all of your plan because you're just like the rest of them. Desperate and pathetic" Nancy said

"Thank you for your input ladies. But leave this to the men. Think we know abit more about war than you do" I said putting my cigarette out

"You think you know more than me? I was there Tommy. I know because I was there. I've seen innocent old couples killed side by side simply for saying one wrong word. I've seen children become orphans as they scream for their parents. I've seen grown men like yourself who think they are all tough, cry for their mothers as they are tortured. I've seen it all. So don't tell me you know more about this war than I do" Nancy screamed at me, slapping me in the process

"SOMEONE HAS TO WIN THIS WAR NANCY. AND I WONT GIVE UP. OUR FAMILY WILL WIN AND HE WILL FALL" I yelled, slamming my hand on the table to scare her but it appeared to have no effect

"DONT YOU GET IT? THERE ARE NO WINNERS WHEN IT COMES TO WAR. ONLY SURVIVORS!!!" And with that, Nancy stormed out making me contemplate everything I've every though

"You do this for Nancy, because of what she went through. But in the end, if you live or die, Nancy will hate you for it. All she needs is her family back, not a cart of her brothers dead bodies" Lucia then left aswell leaving us all alone wondering what to do

"We can't survive this tom" Michael said

"Nancy will hate us. And I want to be here when she grows up, I want to be there for her and to love her. We got our revenge on viktor. Revenge on stalin will come but not by 1 gang from a tiny country" John said

"Go home. Forget the plan. I don't wanna lose another sister because of my mistakes" and with that they all walked out, giving me peace and quiet to think out my situation. To think out what comes next in a world as dark as this one. I just want freedom. Not for me, but for Nancy and Lucia. I want the chains of their past that drag them down to be destroyed but it seems that can't happen. Not by getting myself killed
