My poor monster high

Idk who thought that making a live monster high was a good idea but me and that person need to talk.

I'm not even mad that it's a live monster high, atp I don't care 🤷🏽‍♀️ we've had bad reboots before but It's REALLY bad.

They changed everyone's personality and I don't mind a lil personality swap but they changed characters when they didn't need to and in return changed a good amount of their arcs.

For example:

- Draculara who used to be a vampire is for some reason now a witch? And not just that but also a complete dickhead and went from being bubbly and cute to rude and disrespectful. This is a problem since the Draculara we grew up with was always nice and sweet and her being nice and sweet was important to her arc, same with her being a vamp. Her being a vampire yet being so different showed the "freaky flaw" she had, her being so nice is what made her just give up the title she got as queen and instead look for the r e a l vampire queen, this act also got her powers. Out of everyone I hate that they ruined Draculara the most because she was one of the most well developed and fleshed out characters and they threw it all away for what? Not just that but I doubt Draculara even has an arc in this live action so instead of building on it they discarded it and hasn't thought about it.

-instead of making idk the simple headcannon that even the creator of mha liked and enjoyed that clawdeen is a lesbian, they instead make her have the hots for....DUCE! Dude duce of all people? Now what the actual hell? Clawdeen hasn't even had good long interactions with duce in the actual movie so why- it's just so random.. not just that but they darken the actors skin tone

-instead of hiring an Egyptian actor they chose a non Egyptian actor to play Cleo? It's funny how monster high is one of those movies that is super diverse and then they pull shit that makes it less diverse. Not just that but I'm pretty sure Cleo's whole personality is gonna be around her and duce breaking up which is just so aggy..

-they made ghoulia verbal, took away multiple characters accents, made clawdeen more nerdy and shy? ☠️ it's just a mess

-also don't come to talking bout some "ok but what about Frankie?" I will not see frainkie going by they/them pronouns as the amazing god tier rep you think it is. They didn't make Frankie non binary for the audience i hope ya'll know that. They didn't say "hey we took away ALREADY GOOD REP so let's give them a slice of rep!" No no they only did it for the actor. The actor goes by he/they pronouns so it makes sense that he'd feel uncomfortable in the role of a girl. So no Frankie being enby isn't amazing rep. is it rep? Yes it is but it doesn't deserve the amount of praise ya'll are giving it ☠️

If they wanted to give us good quality praise worthy rep, they could've not done the live action or keep everything EXACTLY the same. They could've hired a darker actor to play clawdeen, they could've hired an Egyptian actor for Cleo, they could've made clawdeen a lesbian and ghoulia staying non verbal. If they wanted to give us rep trust me they could've, and when monster high is literally gushing out rep it's so easy that there's no excuse

But I can't expect much from a director who made a very highly racist movie 🤷🏽‍♀️

All in all, just don't watch it ☠️ if you wanna watch it please use not legal websites in order to not send any profit to this director, because hate watching does exist and I'm sure multiple people wanna hate watch. I will forever think this live action will be horrible including it's practices and until it pulls a "jokes on you 😹😹" move and does everything right and I mean everything to the representation actually being present to the arcs being great then I'll change my view.

And lord I didn't even touch on the fact that this isn't just a movie, it's a whole musical. ☠️
